The town of Massa is in the center of a very interesting area both environmentally and historically and culturally. About 40 minutes by car you can reach the cities of Pisa, lucca, and other small towns such as Pietrasanta and Sarzana. Florence can be reached in about 1 hour and 10 minutes by highway or train. The Cinque Terre, a Unesco World Heritage Site, are definitely worth a visit and can be reached either by train or by boat with a daily connection . The surroundings are full of small restaurants with typical cuisine .If you wish, the owners of the house will be able to advise you about it. You can make beautiful day trips to Lunigiana , a land rich in nature and castles to visit. From the Malaspina Castle overlooking the town of Massa you can admire the splendid panorama that embraces the Riviera from Viareggio to the Gulf of Poets with beautiful sunsets over the sea.
For mountain lovers there are many paths, from the easiest to follow with children to those for experts. There is also a beautiful road designed in the 18th century by the architect Vandelli which connects the city of Massa with Modena. This road was initially designed for horse carriages but is currently traveled by walkers who appreciate the clean air, the silence of the mountain and the beautiful panoramas it offers.The city of Carrara is worth a visit for its artistic workshops and marble museum
