The beautiful region of Piedmont is located in the triangle of Milan, Turin and Genoa. Known for its beautiful scenery, slow food, excellent wines and truffles. A charming hilly area, which includes the wine regions of the Langhe and Monferrato. Historic towns like Moncalvo (5 min) Asti (20 min), Alba (45 min), Bra and the vineyards and wineries of Barolo, Barbera, Nebbiolo, Roero are nearby. These towns offer excellent restaurants, local Piedmontese cuisine, and fantastic wines.
Autumn offers many special festivities, such as the Palio of Asti, truffle markets, wine and culinary Piedmontese festivals.
Moncalvo - 'the smallest town in Italy' - is 3 km away. The center has a pleasant square; there is a weekly market on Thursdays, and an antiques market every first Sunday of the month. There are very good Piedmontese restaurants and some good pizzerias. As well as specialty shops and supermarkets. Here you drink a cappuccino for only 1.30 euros and eat a delicious pizza for 5 euros.
It is said that Piedmont is similar to Tuscany as it was 30 years ago. Just as beautiful, lovely and untouched. And not so touristy.
The famous Palio of Asti (a spectacular horse race) is held every 3rd Sunday of September. The race is preceded by festive processions etc.
The famous truffle markets in Moncalvo take place on the last 2 Sundays in October.
