Casa Lavanda is a beautifully renovated country house (originally 2 houses). It is located at the end of a dead-end country road in the municipality of Vicoli. It is the place to completely relax, away from everyday stress, in the middle of beautiful nature. Surrounded with 1ha of land, olive grove and fruit trees. You have the entire house to yourself and therefore only have to share it with your travel group.
The large kitchen with extendable table (for up to 10 people) has an adjacent large pergola (8x4m) for outdoor dining or relaxing. There is also a double bedroom with bathroom downstairs. Upstairs is the lounge with Dutch, French, English, German and Italian books, satellite TV, DVDs and CDs; free Wifi, 1 triple room, 1 double room, a bathroom with bath and shower and a large terrace. All windows, doors, shutters and mosquito screens were recently replaced.
The house is the ideal place to spend your holidays in a relaxing environment in the middle of the Abruzzese nature. The view of the mountains and olive groves and vineyards is fantastic. The house is located
is located on the border of the Gran Sasso National Park and it is possible to reach the mountains in 30 minutes.

It is a 4km or 5' drive to the nearby village of Civitella Casanova where you have a supermarket, pharmacy,
bakery, butcher, gelateria, bar, grocery store, post office, bank, gas station, etc. There is also the Sunday market every week.

In the vicinity there are several excellent restaurants:

- Pizzeria La Fenice is located 1 km away
former school. Besides pizza, other dishes are also available.

- La Bandiera (Civitella Casanova) restaurant with a Michelin star.
For €50 per person you have a very extensive menu with house wine.

- Il ritrovo d'Abruzzo (Civitella Casanova): gastronomic, modern

- Macalusa (Civitella Casanova) known for its arrosticini (=mutton skewers).

- Cappuccini (Catignano) specialized in baccalà (= stockfish,
smoked and salted cod). Baccalà can be had in different ways
wise food: carpaccio, soup, fried, grilled, etc.

There is a zoo La Rupe 8 km away. As the crow flies, the zoo is only 1.5 km from Casa Lavanda. That is why you can sometimes hear the lions roar.

About 1.5 km away there is a protected nature reserve equipped with picnic tables and play equipment.

In Carpineto della Nora you can visit the San Bartolomeo Abbey. The abbey path (8.7 km) leaves from the abbey towards Villa Celiera.

Go exploring in one of the many medieval villages or towns, discover the National Parks.
The beautiful and well-kept beaches can be reached in 45 minutes.

The nearest airport is Aeroporto d'Abruzzo, 35 km (45' drive) in Pescara. Other possible airports are Ancona (200km), Rome Ciampino (208km) and Rome Fiumicino (230km).

We are Ronny & Griet and we live in Belgium. We have been going on holiday in Italy for many years. The first years we went with our children to South Tyrol. Then it got further south. In 2012 we went on holiday in the beautiful region of Abruzzo for the first time. In 2013 we went house hunting and we immediately fell in love with this house, the view and the peaceful surroundings.

Don't worry if you think you've gotten hopelessly lost: you're probably on the right track to reach Casa Lavanda, and that house is really worth the drive: all comfort - with beds already made - complete peace and quiet, beautiful views . Dolce far niente in Italian weather. No tourist crowds and yet good restaurants and well-maintained hiking trails nearby. Do you still want to visit top tourist locations? An hour's drive away you can either lie in the sea on the Costa dei Trabocchi or stand on the highest peak of the Apennines, and in the evening you return to your own swimming pool. We had a very pleasant holiday here.

Perfectly equipped house and a great base to explore Abruzzo! You can relax on site, but also enjoy the beautiful nature and towns in the vicinity of Vicoli. Highly recommended for a family holiday!

It is who in Paradise. Man hat als Gast das Gefühl willkommen zu sein. This begins with a pleasant health care with a living environment, which means more care for the environment than the rest and the end with additional care for pool cleaning. If you have absolute Ruhe sucht and if you look at the end-of-life Bergkette hereditary dogs, it is especially good to have them here.

Fantastic and crazy. Truly a top location. The house, the environment, the people. Truly a place to relax from the hurried, stressful life in the Netherlands. The house is located in a wonderfully quiet location along an agricultural road that leads to olive groves. No one else comes by. The house is tastefully and comfortably furnished. Everything you could need is there. From iron to salad spinner, from games to reading books, it's all there. And then the surroundings, what an amazing view of the mountains. Every day it looked different. Wonderful to enjoy this beautiful view with a cup of coffee on the terrace. Highly recommended!!

The Rocca Calascio fortress is located at an altitude of 1460 meters and can call itself the highest fortress in the Apennines. A watchtower was built here in the 10th century and expanded in the 13th century. In 1461 the castle was damaged by an earthquake and has not been rebuilt since.
Today you can walk through the romantic ruins on the hilltop. Scenes for the films Ladyhawke, The Name of the Rose and The American were filmed here. Near the fortress you will find the octagonal church Santa Maria della Pietà, built in 1596.

- South of Ortona, the coastline is known for trabocchi structures built by fishermen. Those characteristic high wooden fishing platforms seem to crawl out of the water like crabs. Since the 15th century, these trabocchi have ensured that fishermen can fish safely, even in the most unfavorable weather conditions.
- The Punta Aderci Nature Reserve is considered by many to be the most spectacular part of the Abruzzo coastline. Within the nature reserve is the famous Mottagrossa beach, voted one of the fifteen most beautiful beaches in Italy.
- Majella National Park: Monte Amaro is the highest mountain at 2793 meters. No fewer than 500 kilometers of hiking trails have been mapped out in the park. Don't miss the cave paintings Grotta del Cavallone, it is also one of the deepest caves in Europe that is accessible to the public.
- Archaeological site of Alba Fucens
Not so far from the large modern city of Avezzano, you can visit the archaeological site of Alba Fucens. This was once a Roman colony that settled between 304 and 303 BC. was founded near the historic road that connected Tiburtina and Valeria. The fortress walls are well preserved and you can also see remains of buildings and Roman roads.
