Farmhouse

Farmhouse in the Eifel built in 1760

Our house in the Eifel is a former farm from about 1760, which has been converted into a comfortable home while retaining original details. It is located at an altitude of almost 500 meters in the center of the small village of Feuerscheid. Feuerscheid is located between Bitburg and Prüm. It is about a three hour drive from Utrecht.

The house can accommodate up to six people.
Because the original part of the farmhouse is so old, the ceilings in some rooms are low.
Pets are not allowed.

On the ground floor you will find the living room, reading room and dining room. These are in open communication with each other. There is a difference in level between the living room and the reading room.
From the living room you have a magnificent view over the garden, the valley and the wooded mountains on the other side of the valley. In the morning, when the fog slowly clears, you see a picture as if it were the advertisement for Spawater. The living room has a two-seater sofa and a sitting area with two chairs.
Around 1960 a sheltered housing was built on the house. We added this to the living room in 2012. In this area there is a three-seater sofa and a well-stocked bookcase. The small TV (with DVD and chromecast) can be seen from both rooms. Movies and series are available. And CDs for the radio / CD player.

In the dining room (this used to be the kitchen) the original sink is still present, as is the bread oven, where 12 loaves of bread were baked every week until 60 years ago. There is a more than 100 year old oak dining table with four chairs, also an antique chair for a fifth eater. If necessary, a stool can be added for a sixth person. A beautiful pharmacy cabinet has been placed in this room where luxury crockery, tablecloths and placemats can be found. The 'daily use' crockery is in the kitchen.
The walls of the house are, like French houses, 60 cm thick and they are nowhere straight. The wide window sills give the house atmosphere. In the summer it stays nice and cool downstairs.

The farm is built in the so-called Trierer Langhaus style. The outbuildings are attached to the house and are accessible from the inside. The kitchen, bathroom and laundry room/workshop are located in the former forge. Little has changed in the pigsty behind it. We store garden tools there. Wood is stored in the drone.

The kitchen is spacious and light and also offers a beautiful view of the garden. Cooking is electric, there is an oven, a dishwasher and a small fridge with freezer drawers. Pans, cutlery and crockery are generously available. There are also cookbooks.
The bathroom with walk-in shower, sink and toilet is on the ground floor. There is a non-slip floor in the shower area. The bathroom is heated by a radiator and underfloor heating. On the first floor is a second toilet and a sink.

The bedrooms are located on the 1st and 2nd floor of the house and are divided into a double and a single bedroom on the 1st floor and a triple bedroom on the 2nd floor. The ceiling on the first floor is 1.95 m high. The large attic room is just nice and high. If desired, a cot can be added. But the house is not really set up for little ones. For example, there are no stair gates and the garden is not fully fenced. In the house, the walls are susceptible to damage, just like some old cabinets.

The house has central heating. However, you will not find radiators in the living room. We thought that did not fit in a house with so much history. The walls are equipped with wall heating in loam. This has the advantage that you need to burn less heat. And if you arrive in the winter, after the thermostat has been turned up, you will soon be surrounded by the radiation coming from the wall.

As far as the house. The garden, mainly grassland with trees, slopes downwards. Our house is located on top of the Feuerscheid hill. Along the house is a paved terrace. There are several seating areas, partly covered. We have omitted playground equipment. There is a nice playground 300 meters from our house.

There are no shops in Feuerscheid. You can do your shopping in Waxweiler, Schönecken, Bitburg or Prüm. You can reach these places in 10 to 15 minutes. Please note, shops in Germany are still closed on Sundays with the exception of a few bakeries. And the supermarket in Schönecken closes at 1 p.m. on Saturdays. Also good to know: Smaller stores often lack a card reader.

Luxembourg, Echternach, Vianden, Trier and the Moselle region with its many wine villages are not far away. There are plenty of hiking opportunities and the Volcanic Eifel with the famous Maaren is definitely worth a visit.

Since 2020 there is WIFI in the house.
Rental is from a minimum of three nights. This may differ during school holidays. When in doubt, ask us.

Like many, we dreamed of a second home in France. But when the opportunity arose, we quickly moved to the Eifel. It is nice and close and therefore very suitable for a weekend away. The varied landscape and friendly villages did the rest. This farm with its rich history in a beautiful green environment, it was exactly what we were looking for. And it definitely has a French atmosphere too.

Explanation of prices

The rental price shown here is the basic rental price, so excluding gas, cleaning and sheets/duvet covers, but including tourist tax. We ask for a deposit of 200 euros per booking. Gas consumption is monitored and deducted from the deposit. We calculate the price as we pay it to our suppliers.
You can have the house cleaned for 60 euros. This is not mandatory. When you book cleaning with us, we ask you to pay 60 euros to the key manager at the start of the rental period. The house must be swept clean upon departure. And do you put everything back in its place? You can dispose of plastic, paper and residual waste in the garage.
You can rent sheets and duvet covers from us for 10 euros per person. The beds are not made in advance. You must bring your own bath towels. Kitchen linen is at your disposal.

To avoid misunderstandings: A reservation request via Micazu is a booking. We will immediately draw up a rental agreement, which you will receive by email. If you have any questions about available periods, please use the "Ask a question" button.

When you book, we ask you to pay a deposit within five days. This is usually half of the basic rent. After receipt of this payment, your reservation is final and you agree to the provisions of the rental agreement and the rental conditions . We also ask you to complete the missing information in the rental agreement and email it back. You must transfer the remaining rent and deposit six weeks before the start of the rental period. Details and dates are stated in the agreement that we email you.
If you unexpectedly want to cancel the rental, please let us know quickly so that we can open the calendar to others. NB Sometimes emails with attachments (such as the rental agreement) end up in the recipient's spam box.
