You have removed this house from your favorites Holiday home in Germany, Eifel, Feuerscheid - farmhouse Farmhouse in the Eifel built in 1760 Enter our Eifel house. View of the living room from the hallway. On the right, out of sight, is the dining room. That used to be the kitchen. Bread oven and old sink with water pump are reminders of that. The back part of the living room was added to the basic house in the 1960s. We turned it into a reading room. Here you see the slightly lower reading room with second sofa and coffee table. There is a small TV with Chromecast and DVD player. Also a radio / CD player. We have lots of games, DVDs and CDs. And a well-stocked bookcase. We used to have a bookshop, that's why. The wood stove in the living room is mainly for the atmosphere. There is central heating throughout the house, but you can't see it in the living room. The heating is concealed here in the mud walls. The thick walls provide excellent insulation in summer and winter. Cool in summer, warm in winter. In the cozy living room it is wonderful in all seasons to enjoy the view and bird visits by the window. The wall heating provides wonderful radiant heat in the cold season. A glass of wine, music and a good book will do the rest. If that's not relaxation? The dining room is open to the living room. Here you will find details of the original building from 1760, as the old sink and bread oven. Through a window in the interior is extra light in and there is a view of the valley In the dining room there is an antique dining table and china cabinet Water pump and china cabinet in the dining room. The sink from 1760 is located in the dining room facing the street of the house. In the dining room you will also find the bread oven, which was in use until 70 years ago. Once a week, the then resident, mother of the neighbour, baked twelve loaves of bread there. The bread oven is now out of order. In June 2023, the exterior facade of the house and stables were painted. The facade is made very light yellow, the window frames have an old pink tint. This color combination can often be found in old buildings and churches in the Eifel. A picturesque atmosphere on a beautiful summer evening. Summer and winter, spring and autumn, this home is truly a four season home. Walking, cycling, car trips, city trips, skiing, motorcycling, horseback riding or just relax in the house and garden. For a weekend or longer holiday, our farm is a perfect place. Contrary to popular belief, the climate of the Eifel is pleasant. The sun shines exuberantly and there is usually little wind. Many walks can be made from the house. This photo was taken near our house. The kitchen is nice and light and spacious. All the obvious amenities, such as oven, dishwasher, filter coffee machine and a small refrigerator/freezer are available. Behind the kitchen is a room with washing machine, dryer and clothes lines. The heating boiler is also here. The kitchen offers a beautiful view of the large garden. Cooking is done electrically and coffee is made the 'old-fashioned' way with a filter coffee machine, which can be set at any time in a very 'new-fashioned' way. A milk frother is available. The generous garden has a lot to offer. A paved terrace runs alongside the house and there is a covered garden room with a second terrace. There are several dining tables and in the evening you can read in the garden room. The garden area consists mainly of grass and of course there is a barbecue. In our farm are two large and one small bedroom, all situated on the garden side. On the picture you can see the master bedroom on the 1st floor. With two mattresses in a double casing and electrically adjustable bases. There is a large closet with quilts and blankets. On the second floor is a large attic room of approximately 6 by 6 meters. Here are three single beds. There is also a sitting area and a small TV with DVD. Also here a linen closet with duvets and blankets. And a bookcase full of thrillers. There are many more books in the living room. The attic room is decorated in a variety of styles. Ancient monastery or castle chairs, a lamp and a '60s Indians plumage. There is a large casement and two small windows for ventilation. On the 1st floor there is an additional toilet and sink. Here our house from the street side. Living rooms and bedrooms are garden-oriented. Behind the window downstairs on the left is the bathroom. Upstairs, also on the street side, is a second toilet. Also an extra sink. This sign recently adorned our facade on the street side. It is the oldest known name for this building in Eifelian dialect. All old houses in Feuerscheid received such a sign. We don't yet know what the meaning of Feiels is. Tips are welcome. It is difficult to get a good picture of the bathroom as a whole. The bathroom is on the ground floor. Here is a walk-in shower, sink, toilet and storage space. The towel radiator and underfloor heating complete it. The farm is built in the Trierer Langhaus style. The stable and work areas are attached to the house. The kitchen, bathroom and laundry room are located in the former stable annex forge. On the property is a separate garage that can accommodate one car. Parking is also possible next to the house. How it was. The accompanying photo shows the drone on the street side on the right, the last part of the stables and workspaces. Here were the carts and agricultural implements. The Chapel in the photo was destroyed by fire in 1950 and has been rebuilt elsewhere in the village by the father of our contractor. View of the Nimsdal from the garden. Fog clears when the sun comes out after a rain shower. Always a beautiful face. Not very clear on the photo, but the view extends very far. At about 300 meters from our house is a nice playground and a sports field. Inconvenience of screaming children or loiterers will find absolutely not. Feuerscheid is a small and friendly village and the residents keep much into each other and each other's privacy. Our house is a lovely place to stay, but the area also has a lot to offer. The Eifel is characterized by very diverse landscape, the villages are idyllic and multicolored. You can go walking, cycling, golf and even winter sports. Pool and zoo are nearby. A beautiful village in the north of the Eifel is Kronenburg. It is really old, car-free and you can enjoy a delicious dinner at Villa Kronenburg. The Eifel offers nature, culture and history. And a 40-minute drive takes you to the microclimate of the Moselle region. Here the famous Riesling is grown and you will find beautiful wine villages with restaurants, cafes and wine tastings. Upon arrival at home, you will receive a dry Riesling from us. In the Volcanic Eifel, just east of Feuerscheid, you can visit two beautiful castles in Manderscheid. Another historical highlight is Trier, Germany's oldest city. Luxembourg City, Vianden and Echternach are also within 'reach'. Three quarters to an hour drive. One of the Maars for which the Volcanic Eifel is famous. Beautifully situated cemetery on the Weinfelder Maar in the Volcanic Eifel. It has a moving history. Village in the Volcanic Eifel, built in a crater. The toy museum on the Market Square in Trier is our favourite. It is located above an excellent Konditorei. Back to the house and garden. Snow falls regularly in the Eifel. A ski course and cross-country skiing course have been set out just outside Prüm. This is just a 20 minute drive from our home. There are also skiing and cross-country skiing facilities in Daun. Real winter. Snow on the trees, doesn't that make you warm? ;-) As a matter of course you will dream of a white Christmas. Everything is there to make it a party. The Eifel Garden is a true bird paradise (with the help of a little food). We regularly receive reports of birds of prey spotted by tenants. Personally, I continue to photograph smaller items from behind the window. Large groups of cranes fly over in spring and autumn. Spectacular to hear and see. The Hawfinch, March 2023. Bullfinch and chaffinch. Two siskins fight because of the fat ball. The butterfly bush lives up to its name. Poppies in the front yard. Delicious cherries in the Eifelhuistuin. The cherry tree in autumn colors. Painter Rainer Stoffel at work in June 2023. From dark red window frames to old pink. And a completely refreshed facade. Subtle color difference between hollyhock and wall. Ivy and honeysuckle obscure the view of the liquefied gas tank. They also provide food for bees and butterflies. Butterfly bushes are added in the summer. Really beautiful are the Hummingbird butterfly, Emperor's mantle and Queen's page. We hope to have given you a good idea of what our house and the Eifel have to offer. In 2012 we bought this farmhouse and made it our own more and more. In reactions from tenants we read that it also feels like a home for them. That is very good for us.
