Additional information

The geschiedenis.Bij the treaty of the Pyrenees, this piece of land by Spain to France gegeven.De Pyrenees were from that moment the natural border between France and Spanje.U can still see the type of houses and the Spanish hospitality that many residents still have. The original inhabitants were Catholics, that the faith had a slightly different opinion than the Pope in Rome. This has regularly sent mercenary armies to the area, to the inhabitants to convert to 'true' faith. Who did not accept this murdered. In the most high mountains in the area were castles built. These were lookouts for the mercenary armies in time coming. There were then great fires made to the region on alert. The inhabitants retreated back into the walled cities and remained there until a few weeks after the mercenary armies went back home. That this is not always going well described in several books (we have some ready for you). Then at the last occupation of the castle of Montsegur fell, and all 120 residents at the stake ended, it was enough. The Cathars (later corrupted in the Dutch language as heretics) fled to Spain. The route they followed previous runs through the Pyrenees. Every year, hundreds of hikers still walk this route. The southern escape route runs along the Saint Paul Fenouillet.Een fun outing is a part of this walk, walk. He walks to one of the Cathar castles and is approximately 7.5 kilometers (one way).
Our house we bought from the old owner. It dates from 1950 and Mr. Fabre was born there. He has held the house as a vacation home. But when his wife became ill and he was nothing more he has put on sale. We have the name of the old owner kept our house so called Maison Fabre.

In 2009 we decided the bottom floor of our house is also for rent.
That is our well and its tenants apparently because 2 of the 3 have also booked the following season.
In 2008, we have a swimming pool construction of 10x5meter. The purification of the water involves using salt. As a result, there is only a very small amount of chlorine necessary in order to purify the water. You can taste and / or no chlorine smell whatsoever. So no red eyes or dry skin. The pool has a shower with fresh water that is heated with sun energy. The pool is not a playground, but intended for swimming. The seats at the pool are reserved for us in this way and we will keep you plenty of privacy. The use of the pool is at your own risk. If children are in the company who can not swim, then you yourself monitor. After 6 pm the pool is covered. This is in order to retain the heat.
The temperature of the pool in the summer months usually above 25 degrees Celsius.
A day lazing ook.Wilt course you can read a book, you can. We have a large number of Dutch boeken.Voor lovers there are also books in French aanwezig.De color television in the living room is connected to the satellite and this allows you to view all Dutch stations (except the regional stations). Practicing at the bowling alley, so that one day you can join in a competition in the village. Almost every week in high season is in the village have a bowling competition organized. Registration is possible for a moment iedereen.Hieronder follow the rules for bocce or petanque: How petanque played? You play tête-à-tête (individual), or Doublette triplette. In tête-à-tête and Doublette used each player 3 boules, in triplette 2 boules.Wie wins the toss decides what is played (with us is that the bowling alley). The first player throws the jack from between 6 and 10 meters and at least 1 meter of a obstakel.De first player tries a boule closest to the jack in place. Then try a player from the other team a boule closer to the jack or a boule to place the opponent at that point is, to shoot. Then the team whose boule is not on point, as long throw until they do, and so on. If a team has no more boules, the other party try to place more bowls better. If all boules have been played, the winning team gets as many points as the number of bowls better than the best boule of the opposing team. Whoever wins the round, throws the jack again. The team which has made the first 13 points wins.
Since the beginning of 2010 in the village made a Via Ferrata. For more information about this exciting sport please visit www.viaferrata.nl bezoeken.Er are two trails off, the first is an easy trail and doing good (even if you do not have experience). The second track is pretty spicy and goes a lot higher. In the village there is a possibility to rent the necessary materials, but you yourself have to have good hiking boots. If you are brave enough, let me take you on your first trip on Route 1. Route 1: Height difference 80 meters. Total distance 150 meters. Climb Time 1 1/2 hours. Back via footpath 15 minutes. Level simple. Route 2: height 300 meters. Total distance 900 meters. Time climbing 3 to 4 hours. Back via footpath 40 minutes. Level quite spicy.
Some suggestions can be found in the book to. We have a large documentation where many trips are described. But for people who enjoy walking and / or cycling, this is a great opportunity. We have detailed maps of the area for you. It is recommended to walking sticks and good walking shoes with you. The area is mountainous and the paths are rather uneven. So it is convenient to use the poles to secure your steps.
The Gorge which is located 6 kilometers from our house is a major attraction. You can walk through it on the road but also a walk along the river belongs to the possibilities. Important here is that you have travel dangerous sports such as skiing and diving cover. Each year several thousand people walk through the Gorge and few accidents happen, but if something were to happen, the rescue team with a helicopter in the gorge be put.
If you choose to walk through the water wearing a wetsuit is recommended (the water has a temperature about 12 degrees and walk and swim through there almost 2 hours).
Barcelona is a beautiful metropolis annually attracts many visitors. The Hotels in Barcelona know that only too well and the price is adjusted accordingly. No problem for you because in just over 2 hours away by car in the center of Barcelona.
PrehistorieDe history of Languedoc-Roussillon has its origins about 450,000 years ago, during prehistoric times when the first 'Europeans' in Tautavel chose their residence on the shores of the Mediterranean. Tautavel (Eastern Pyrenees) is a village in the Corbières between the sea and the mountains lies at the foot of the Pyrenees. In 1971 the village was known by the discovery of a fossilized skull of the Man who Tautavel 450,000 years old. The European Centre for Prehistory in Tautavel shows in her museum, which remains the best preserved of Europe behoren. In the museum you can get an understandable explanation of how people lived during that time. In the rest of Europe people already knew fire. Here is how they have come behind you there to hear. Explanation is in Dutch. So fun for your older children. Languedoc-Roussillon is one of the areas in France that the greatest number of menhirs and dolmens counts. There is eg Cham des Bondons, on the Mont Lozère, where more than one hundred granite menhirs are scattered across the landscape; in Pepieux, in the Aude, is the dolmen of the weld Fadas Morrel (of the Fairies) which are 24 meters the largest dolmen of southern France! Located on the limestone plateau of Blandas, near Vigan in the Gard, the stone circle of the Lacam Peyrarines a megalithic collection of 46 stones forming a circle with a diameter of 120 m
In the plain of Roussillon, the village Salses le Château, a town devoted to tourism. The landscape is varied with its vineyards, its underbrush and pine forests, not to mention the large water surface of Lake Salses - Leucate. Walkers during their wandering in the alleys and small streets of the Catalan flowers, shops and all activities and discover all the festivities will be pleasantly surprised. The passage of Salses was used since antiquity. The Roman legions used the passage to go to Spain to proceed. The key position between France and Spain have here quite a few battles caused, above all in 1496, 1503 and 1639-1640. The Fort de Salses, built by the Spaniards to the French way of choking. It was one of the first fortifications in Europe that was half buried. The Fort de Salses all year geopend.Het Fort by 95 000 tourists per year visited and is very worthwhile, if you speak French well you will most enjoy it, but there's a Dutch explanation available.
The land of the Cathars is a country full of traditions and the people have a great sense of belonging. Perhaps it's because of the history. Everywhere in the region are often meetings were organized, all residents can participate. The activities planned are usually one day before announcement. Previously this was done by a municipal officer, but nowadays there hanging loudspeakers in the streets. Just here for 12 hours, the messages are announced. Then everyone goes for lunch. Traditionally this is still between 12h and 14h. Most businesses are closed for lunch (many museums close for lunch). We love to participate in the activities organized by the village. A few times a year a big party, for example on the 2nd day of Easter in a big tent where the omelette is served the Paque. Then there gedanst.Elk years the number of applicants exceeds the places available. We try every year to be there.
A walk through the region many bicycle routes. These are not the beautifully landscaped paths as we know, but often they are just as wrong as the hiking trails. It is best to take these routes on mountain bikes. If you do not cross bike, it's no problem. We have two mountain bikes are available for hire. For half a day the rent is € 5, - per bike. For a full day is € 7.50 per bike. Do you have cross bikes you can (covered) at our stables.
We love cooking and good food. There is a large number of good restaurants in our area, unfortunately not with us in the village, although the restaurant in the center a good plate of mussels and fries can prepare. Other dishes we can not recommend it. But once you want good food you can do so at any price. We can give you advise. If we go out for dinner we usually around lunch time, because most restaurants only from 8 pm gaan.Omdat open ourselves to cook we are looking for fun ingredients. A very special ingredient comes to us from the neighborhood. There is a small stream in which the water 60 grams of salt per liter. From time to time we get water from the stream and let the water evaporate. The salt which has now won a special composition. The stream was discovered in 1650 and since that time salt was used as currency (including tax), it has always in the interest gestaan. In Saint Paul de Fenouillet is also a source where water comes out that summer and winter 16 degrees is. It is very rich in minerals and would help in the purification.
If what you want to add culture to your stay, you can do so in several ways. Perhaps a visit to 1 of the three museums of Salvador Dali a fun outing. In the town of Figueras in Spain is the largest museum many works of Salvador Dali is contained. Also, a visit to his home in Portlligat a nice day. Especially if you are on the way up the coastal route let go. Delicious food in Collioure or in any of the other coastal towns give you a good picture of this side of Frankrijk.Kijk also look at the links to other websites in order to get an impression of the life of Salvador Dali.
The wines from the area are worth waard.Tenzij you prefer a dry white wine. The white grape is often the Macabeu, this variety is almost exclusively in the Mediterranean for. A dry white wine made with a strange taste. Many growers can not sell this wine sit and firing an aperitif. That's a good thing, the appetizer is delicious. The quality of the wines differ widely. There are five in the village wine from the Bordeaux region and make the best wines. However, this quite expensive, because who wants to be around € 15, - to pay for a local wine .. This wine than we pay attention during the picnic and during the 3 course diners.Maar the wine you do get to drink gets will surprise you.
There are three golf courses nearby.
The golf course in Saint Cyprien offers 18 holes of which 9 with water.
Font Romeu has 9-hole golf course located in the mountains at 1800m altitude.
Saint Laurent de Cerdans has 18 holes and is also in the mountains.
