Our detached house is located in a unique spot in the Morvan Natural Park in Burgundy. It is in a beautiful location with panoramic views. There is no traffic, you will find total peace, silence and darkness at night.
The house is originally a farmhouse from around 1730. At the beginning of 2000, it was completely renovated with great taste by writer Tineke Beishuizen into a comfortable home, while retaining the original character, such as the authentic beamed ceiling. The walls are 60 cm thick so it always stays cool inside.
The interior is luxurious and with a sense of design. On the first floor there is a very spacious bedroom.
Around the house is the secluded garden. There are two large terraces, one in the morning sun at the spacious front garden, one in the evening sun at the backyard. Both terraces have patio furniture. From the rear terrace you have a view of the hills in the evening with a beautiful red-orange sunset. Two large trees provide shade. On the road to the house there are four more houses, with nice and helpful neighbors.
The immediate area is a landscape of wooded hilltops and hedged meadows with Charolais cows. Many birds, early in the morning game. From the house, several short and longer hiking trails start on farm paths, through forest, along the Dragne, the fast-flowing river in the valley and past the village of Onlay.
The area is perfect for walking, but also for sporty or e-bike cycling on the many quiet roads. At 8 km is the pleasant town of Moulins Engilbert with all amenities, a large supermarket, terraces and restaurants.
A 20-minute drive away is the highest mountain in the Morvan, Mont Beuvray with the Roman fortress of Bibracte. On the mountain, a walking route runs along the many excavations. A modern museum is dedicated to this. The nearby Saint Honoré-les-Bains was already known to the Romans for its thermal baths. Later it became a chic spa town, still today, with the charm of some faded glory. The Romanesque old towns of Autun, Nevers, Vezelay, la Charité-sur-Loire, with a lot of art and culture, are 40 to 60 km away.
For good communication, we prefer Dutch-speaking tenants.
