Attractive holiday home with a view of the village of Carlux in a wonderful setting!
Les GItes de Carlux is a beautifully landscaped park with 12 gites on 1.5 hectares of land. The park is surrounded by forests. The site offers a magnificent view of the picturesque village of Carlux and its XIII century castle. Facilities: heated outdoor swimming pool of 12m x 6m (open from the end of April - the end of September and heated from about mid-May - mid/end of September), toddler play pool, badminton court, table tennis, playground for children under 6 years, playground for children over 6 years, adventure playground in the forest, table football and free Wi-Fi.
For a small fee, you can have your laundry done. In season, the baker comes by every morning with a van with bread, pastries and other delicacies. Within walking distance are a bakery, supermarket, vegetable hall, restaurants and a café in the village.
Eglantine has a spacious living and dining room with patio doors to the terrace and a wood burning fireplace. There is a DVD player with a screen and there are a number of free DVDs available in different languages. On the ground floor is a double bedroom with ensuite bathroom. And there is a second bathroom. Both bathrooms have a shower, sink and toilet. The luxury kitchen has a microwave, stove, oven, dishwasher, fridge with freezer compartment, toaster, orange juicer, coffee maker, Senseo machine and kettle and is well stocked with crockery, glasses, cutlery and pans. On the second floor is a loft with armchair with a small collection of games and books (in different languages) for young and old.
In addition, there is a bedroom with two single beds and a master bedroom with a double king-size bed. The terrace outside has an L-shape with a view of the children's playground on one side and a beautiful view of the village of Carlux on the other. The terrace has a bricked-in barbeque, a large garden table, a small garden table (both with matching chairs), 4 sunbeds and 3 umbrellas. There is a parking space next to the house.
There are plenty of opportunities to enjoy yourself in the area. Visit a medieval city such as Sarlat with its lively market or the pilgrimage site of Rocamadour. Go to one of the many beautiful castles in e.g. Beynac and Castlenaud. Or visit Chateau des Milandes where Josephine Baker lived. Here you can also see a great bird of prey show. Discover the largest geological cave in the area "Gouffre de Padirac" in which you can take a boat trip on the underground river. A visit to La Roque St. Christophe, a Unesco World Heritage Site, should not be missed. This is a 1 km long cave with 5 large galleries. Here you get a good impression of the life of the cave dwellers. Take a trip on the steam train from Martel or take a "gabarre" down the Dordogne river. Rent bikes and follow the green path past sunflower fields, idyllic villages, and nut orchards and through old train tunnels. Or rent a canoe so you can explore the area from the water. Horse riding and golf are also possible in the area.
If you want to have a nice lunch and buy some nice wines, visit one of the many vineyards in the area including: Chateau de Haut-Serre. In season, there are also many festivals and night markets. Garden lovers should not miss the gardens of Marqueyssac. Or go to the gardens of Eyrignac: one of the most important gardens in France. For children (and adults), there are plenty of fun and educational outings, such as the walnut ecomuseum in Castelnaud, the paper museum in Brantome, the wool spinning mill in Belves, a goat farm in Rocamadour, the historic theme park Bournat, the acquarium le Bugue and the largest climbing park in the Dordogne near Sarlat. There are also several prehisto parks where children can see dinos or follow amulet making workshops or archery . There are also several water parks and zoos in the area.
