General:
Maison les Boules is a modern bungalow with a fully enclosed garden of 3000 m2 with (since 2023) a large private swimming pool (10 x 4 x 1.6 m2 ).
The house is located in Bussière Badil, a small town with a church from the 12th century. Bussière Badil is part of the Parc Naturel Régional Périgord-Limousin.
The bungalow has a large living room with an open modern kitchen. There are four bedrooms, two bathrooms and two toilets. There is underfloor heating throughout the house. The carport next to the house has a charging option for electric cars.
Location and accessibility:
By car from the middle of the Netherlands 950 km.
With the high-speed train in just over 6 hours (!) from the Netherlands (with one change in Paris or in Marne-la-Vallée) to Angouleme gare, which is 41 km from the house. Transavia flies several times a week from Rotterdam to Bergerac, almost a 2-hour drive from our house.
The population density in this part of France is less than 10% compared to the population density of the Netherlands. That gives a wonderful feeling of peace and space. It does mean that you have to drive almost 12 kilometers for your groceries in the supermarket....
Activities:
In the garden around the house enjoying the quiet surroundings with the occasional dip in the pool is wonderful, but there are also many opportunities for active recreation. There are walking and cycling trails in the immediate vicinity. The GR 4, a famous long-distance hiking trail from the Atlantic coast to Provence, runs through Bussière Badil past our house. For golf enthusiasts, there is a beautiful 18-hole golf course a 10-kilometre drive away. Guided(!) canoeing on the Tardoire, the river between the Dordogne and the Charante, is a true experience! At 11 km is the lake of Saint Estephe with a small beach.
You can drive from Bussière Badil to Piégut Pluviers in ten minutes. The weekly market there (on Wednesday mornings) is very worthwhile. In La Rochefaucould, a good twenty minutes' drive away, there is a large medieval castle. A visit to the castle is also a feast for the children. They can dress up as knights or princesses! In July and August, every Tuesday evening for young and old from 18:00 in Varaignes de Marches, there is the produits de pays; From picking out tasty things and eating them on the village square. Be on time! Tip for a family with teenagers: Circuit Karting du Périgord.
In Bussiere Badil, within walking distance of the house is a restaurant. In the area there are also several restaurants in different price ranges.
Wintering: In the months of November to May, rental for a longer period is possible at a greatly reduced rate to be agreed upon.
