Holiday homes in Allos

Allos is an authentic mountain village in the heart of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. This place is a fantastic holiday destination at any time of the year. From November to February the area around Allos is perfect for skiing, with excellent slopes at Val d’Allos and La Foux d’Allos. A great place for downhill skiing and snowboarding, while the snow-covered hills have beautiful routes for cross-country skiing. When spring comes, the white slopes give way to green fields, grazing lambs and nesting birds. Then the region turns into a paradise for walking and cycling against the beautiful backdrop of the Alps. A holiday home in Allos is therefore a good choice all year round. And because you’ll rent directly from the owner through Micazu, you will always pay the best price.

Allos: a hiking and fishing paradise

Allos has many lakes, lagoons and rivers, making it a popular place for sports fishing enthusiasts. Popular fishing spots include the Lac d'Allos and the river Verdon. In addition to hiking, cycling and fishing, mountain biking is also a popular sport in the area around Allos. There are tracks for each level that have at least one thing in common: they are located in a breathtaking landscape. One of the highlights is the Mercantour National Park, a protected nature reserve with beautiful green valleys, mountains and lakes. The park is home to about two thousand different types of plants and special animal species such as ermines, mouflon sheep and even wolves. Chamois, a type of mountain goat, also feel at home here: thousands of these animals live in the park.

Interesting things to know about Allos:

Allos has a population of just under 700 people, who are called ‘Allossards’.
The village is located at an altitude of 1,400 metres, right at the source of the Verdon river.
The centre of the Mercantour National Park is Mount Bégo (2,872m), which is considered a sacred mountain by the local population.
Prehistoric rock carvings have been found in the park at heights of up to 2,600 metres. They are thought to have been carved by local shepherds in the years 1800 to 1500 BC.
