An 8 person holiday home with all modern conveniences. The house is situated in a small village with a direct train to Prague and Trutnov. The caretaker lives near the home and can answer all your questions. Speaks a little Dutch. The garden is maintained by him. The house stands on a plot of 5,000 m2 and is completely enclosed by a fence. On the ground floor is a games room with table football and some games. Books and magazines are available. Also lie in the house maps and brochures for day trips. Up in the garden is a terrace with 2 benches from which you have a beautiful view over the village and the mountains. In the village is a cozy eatery Male Svatonovice the Salmandre for some excellent food. There is a nice cafe at the church where they give good coffee. Small shops for basic necessities are provided. For larger groceries you can go to Upice (3km) or Trutnov (14 km).

Welcome to the site of our house "Na Hora" which is Czech for "on the mountain". We are Rienk and Nellie Dijkstra from Groningen. After having spent a number of holidays in the Czech Republic, we decided to buy a holiday home in the Czech Republic (December 2007. Why the Czech Republic??? The country is beautiful, the people are friendly and we feel at home there. We usually go 3 times a year with or without children.We hope to be able to use our house for a long time to come.

Male Svatonovice (Klein Schwadowitz) is a village situated at the foot of the Jestrebi Mountains, near the Giant Mountains (Krkonoše).
Male Svatonovice has about 1,587 inhabitants and a size of 6.75 km ². There is a large railway station built in 1850 and enlarged during the Second World War
Male Svatonovice is the birthplace of Karel Capek (born January 9, 1890), one of the most famous Czech writers. There is a Museum Capek brothers in the village. Karel Capek's brother Josef was the first Czech Cubist. In the Brothers Capek Museum still hang some of his pieces.
In the central square in Male Svatonovice is a Baroque Catholic Church of the 7 joys of the Virgin Mary (1734). The church was built on the spot where 7 sources come together. Now there is a chapel with pipes which "healing water" flows. (1732) This place witnessed a miraculous healing and recovery. The story goes that on the spot a young man is cured of his blindness, and could see again after drinking this holy water. There are now many people with empty bottles to fill them here. (The water is actually quite drinkable and soft).
To the left of the chapel is a crossroads with the twelve stations. This is the biblical story of the suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus. From the square begin their routes. Also leaves from here to a hike Zaltman. Zaltman is located about 2 km aftstand, about 750 meters altitude. There is a watchtower, where you have very nice views over the countryside.
