A sunny holiday home in Lagun
Lagun is an authentic fishing village in the northwest of
Curaçao. As in centuries past, the local fishermen still go out on their boat every day to earn their living at sea. It’s a delight to see, so don’t forget your camera. As soon as they return, they sell their catch on the market or just directly on the waterfront. You can’t get fresher fish! But Lagun is best known for Playa Lagun, one of the most beautiful beaches on Curaçao. The small bay of Playa Lagun is a paradise for
diving and snorkelling. It is one big natural aquarium where you will often see sea turtles and even octopuses. Excellent diving and snorkelling trips are also organised from Lagun and the local area to other places around the island.
Discover the most beautiful place in Curaçao
A holiday home or
nature home in Lagun is an ideal base to explore the island. Nature lovers can visit the famous Christopher Park. The largest nature park in Curaçao is rich in flora and fauna. And if you are lucky you might even spot the rare white-tailed deer. There are only about 250 of this deer, affectionately called "biná" by the locals. Another place you must visit is the Shete Boka National Park. One of the most famous attractions there is Boka Tabla, a cave into which the sea waves swell up with great force. The island also offers a lot in terms of
culture and history. Visit one of the many old country houses on the island, such as Daniël or Jan Kok. And a trip to
Willemstad is also a must during a holiday on Curaçao.

Nice things to know about Lagun
- As with many beaches on Curaçao, swimming lessons are given to school children at Playa Lagun every day. Nice to watch from your beach chair!
- Local specialities are kadushi (cactus soup) and giuambo (okra soup). Both soups are a bit slimy, but very tasty and a favourite with the locals!
- Curaçao loves to celebrate carnival. The first festivities start from the first week of January. During carnival week itself there are lavish parades and many fun activities for the kids.
