In winter, you can enjoy skiing and snowboarding in the nearby ski resorts. And don't forget to discover the local gastronomy in Kotschach Mauthen and the charming villages all around!

Top quality box springs and ditto bed and linen linen. And of course your beds are nicely made, your holiday can start right away!

ENVIRONMENT

The village of Kötschach-Mauthen is located near the border triangle of Austria/Italy/Slovenia. A village with many facilities. Several supermarkets, bakeries, local shops, pharmacy, doctor's office, R.C. church.

Next to our holiday home is the ski slope (ideal for beginners and children). For the more experienced skiers, the areas of Nassfeld-Hermagor (free ski bus), Lienz Hochstein and Lienz Zettersfeld are easy to reach by car. Several hiking trails. Don't forget the Weissensee, 35 minutes' drive away, which is fantastic in both summer and winter. Several mountain bike trails in Nassfeld and Lienz. Golf courses in Nassfeld and Lienz (Dolomiten golf) and many golf courses a little further away.

SWIMMING POOL AND TENNIS COURTS

Behind our holiday home is the indoor/outdoor swimming pool with sauna and next to it the tennis courts.

CARINTHIA

Kötschach-Mauthen is a large village between the Gailtal and Carnic Alps, in the holiday region of Nassfeld-Pressegersee. This friendly village is popularly called the 'child of the sun'.

From the fully equipped holiday home you can enjoy snow, sun and nature. In addition to skiing, there is also a lot to do in the summer. Holiday home is located next to the ski slope (ideal for children/beginners) and with easily accessible larger ski areas, our newly built holiday home is a great destination in the winter season!

In the summer with the gondola to Nassfeld where there is a playground at height, the Flying Fox, tobogganing or walking down, fun! Lienz, also hop up - good food and tobogganing down. Garnitzerklamm and Eggeralm, Mauthner klamm, Nassfeld golf, a tough hike to Lampbrechtbauer where you can enjoy a hausjauser as a reward, ValentinAlm, Sollnersee Hütte, Enzian Hütte - we can list it all but there is so much to do!

We are Piet and Anita Bakker and have four children together. Living in the north of North Holland, within cycling distance of the North Sea and the forests of Schoorl, we live beautifully and yet we have chosen to buy a fantastic holiday home in Carinthia. And why? Because the nature here is overwhelming, the people are very friendly, they live with the seasons, and it is beautiful in winter and summer. Sporty and relaxing at the same time. Explanation of the prices & cancellation policy

If you want to rent the house with two people, you can! We can then offer you a discount of 10% on the basic rent. If you want to stay in our villa with two people, there will be one bedroom and one bathroom available for you in addition to the living areas . This offer is not valid in the period May to September and December to March.

In principle, the check in is Saturday 16.00 hours, check out Saturday 10.00 hours, unless otherwise agreed with the landlord.

The energy costs will be deducted from the deposit afterwards.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO CHOOSE ... BETWEEN ACTIVE OR RELAXING ... HERE YOU HAVE EVERYTHING! Our holiday home is centrally located in the village of Kotschach-Mauthen. All amenities are within walking distance. Supermarkets, bakeries, local shops, restaurants, pharmacy, doctor's office. Are you looking for a good butcher? we recommend Fleischerei Kastner. You can have the most delicious sandwiches topped with warm meat, get sausages for drinks or "normal" meat for bread. Fleischerei Kastner, Mauthen 286, 3 minutes drive. The beautiful indoor and outdoor swimming pool Aquarena is behind our house as well as the tennis courts (gravel). The ski slope right next to the holiday home is ideal for beginners and well equipped for small children. The larger ski areas of Nassfeld, Hochstein and Zettersfeld are within easy reach. The River Gail meanders through the village and is a source of entertainment - games/bbq/rafting. There are many cycling and walking routes from the village. Paragliding is possible in Lienz. There are toboggan runs in several places in the area. There are several farmers in the area (eg Kirchbach) who let you experience farm life in a very nice way, with the possibility to buy local products. * Nassfeld - travel time 40 minutes (modern ski area, belongs to the top 10 in Austria - summer toboggan run - NTC Outdoorpark outdoor spectacle, abseiling, climbing, swinging from tree to tree) * Preseggersee - travel time 30 minutes

Schloss Bruck stands on a hill on the edge of the city of Lienz.
Built in the mid-13th century, in 2016, the renovation of this impressive castle was completed.
The castle was built on behalf of the graves of Gorizia and was inhabited by a whole process of digging. After the death of the last count it has come to pass the city of Lienz.

There are all sorts of varied exhibitions, you can see the building, drink something and eat something nice. Worth a visit. From the castle you can go for a walk.

Groppensteinschlucht, if you want to experience a beautiful day, this is a must.
Water and a sandwich and off we went. With the Kärnten Card (for sale at the Tourismusverein in Kotschach Mauthen) the entrance is free.

Greifen Bridge, you can climb there! This is fantastic for every age, because there are three levels. We have visited this kletterpark and have attached a visit to the Badesee to it. That is necessary to rinse off your sweat droplets;-The Kletterpark and the Badesee are located together. There is an opportunity to change yourself at the Badesee and there is also a restaurant. Free access with the Karnten Card.

Bike along the Gail , over the Radweg R3.

There are many cycling routes on well-made bike paths, you can also choose from beautifully landscaped mountain biking trails.
This time we have cycled with our MTB over the Radweg R3 towards Kirchbach, but if you wish you can continue cycling for hours.

Highly recommended, including with children!

While hiking in Austria, you often encounter yellow yellow road signs, but what do the colored points mean?
Routes without point stand for wide roads without significant difference in height.
Blue marked trails are narrow and steep, but you are nowhere over a cliff or deep.
Routes with a red or black point are (medium) heavy, partly narrow and steep. You must be solid and free from height fear.
For black routes (with climbing passages) alpine experience is required.

Nassfeld is a varied ski area. Wide slopes with long descents and large children's areas. A 20 minute drive from Villa Sonnata.

Next to Villa Sonnata is the family ski area, great for the children and also for the parents. More advanced skiers head to Nassfeld. Ski hire in village.

Villach, nice city an hour's drive from Villa Sonnata. Especially in the summer cozy with all kinds of terraces where you can have a drink. Beautiful buildings, the Drau that crosses the city. With a boat you can sail on the Drau, fun to do.

The Mauthner Klamm, what a beautiful piece of nature!
Located at the Naturbad of Mauthen. Within cycling distance of Villa Sonnata. Unfortunately not fully accessible anymore, but definitely worth a visit.

If you want delicious food in a relaxed atmosphere and for a good price, we recommend Delikat. This restaurant is planned every time we are in Kotschach-Mauthen.

You can go hiking in the area. The holiday home is centrally located in a beautiful nature reserve and you can discover beautiful views.

Order a Hausjauser at the restaurants in the mountains, fun party on your plate and in your mouth!

Hausjauser, the specialty of many farmers restaurants!

Lienz, well worth a visit. Enjoy the atmosphere that feels Italian.
Visit Schloss Bruck, experience the toboggan run (a good one!), go paragliding and visit numerous restaurants.

It is allowed to bbq along the Gail, as long as you clean everything up! Get a disposable BBQ, tasty piece of salmon or meat, baguette and bottle of wine at the supermarket. Success guaranteed!

Beautiful 18 hole golf course, less than an hour's drive away. Nice people, accessible and a top restaurant.

Golfclub Schloss Finkenstein am Faakersee

Zettersfeld is the largest ski area of the Lienzer Bergbahnen. In Zettersfeld you take a gondola from Lienz that takes you above the tree line. Zettersfeld is located on a plateau and is one of the sunniest ski areas in Tyrol with a beautiful view of the city of Lienz. The slopes are easy, good for beginners, but the more advanced skiers will quickly get the hang of it. There is no valley descent to Lienz, so you have to take the gondola back down at the end of the day.

Before you know it, you'll be driving past this Gasthaus, and that would be a shame! A family business that conjures up fresh and local food on the table. Well worth a stop. And you don't have to leave it for the price either ;-D

The next summit is just a few steps away! At least in the "Bike World", which offers fascinating uphill and downhill adventures in Austria and Italy. Cycling enthusiasts who want to move completely freely between mountains and lakes can indulge themselves in the "Bike World" of 800 km of marked mountain bike and cycling routes. Plenty of room for turning manoeuvres and challenges is guaranteed on the former smugglers' paths, which have been developed into natural single trails in the Carnic and Gailtal Alps. Even more endurance is required for the mountain bike marathon "Nassfeld Pramollo Hero", which puts even trained cyclists to the test over 60 km and at an altitude of 2,450 metres. But among the 30 varied mountain bike tours, there are also numerous easy and intermediate routes. Many of them take you past small mountain and reservoirs where you can cool off.

Super Klamm, quite challenging but definitely doable! We also see children climbing and clambering here. If you walk all the way to the end of the gorge and go through the forest to the starting point, it will easily take you about 3 hours. But don't let that stop you! Bring water (!) and go!

Letterpark with 3 levels (3, 6 or 8 meters high). The park is located on a lake, you can climb, swim, climb, swim. Until you run out of energy. Restaurant available.
