The beautiful Agundaborg in south-central Sweden deserves our smashing review. We really want to share our review with you because this place is unique!
Agundaborg is located on its own 13 Ha peninsula with its own beaches on a huge 'almost own' lake. There are still foundations of a 12th century 'borg' or castle. (Even then they apparently thought it was a great place :-)
The village of Agunnaryd (the "A" of IKEA) is located between Älmhult, Ljungby and Växjö, (via 'canoe' water even halfway between Älmhult and Ryssby). There is regularly game on the property (including moose, deer and roe deer) but at the same time there is a small supermarket within walking distance (about 200m).
The brand new cottage is located about 40m from Roos and Simon's house on the most beautiful building site of the site and is built under traditional but modern Swedish architecture: spacious rooms, lots of light, lots of height and a great terrace that has an unobstructed view of the lake. This 'holiday home' is 'huge' and fully equipped. As a couple (but even for 6 or 8 people) we couldn't have wished for a better or more spacious or beautiful place to get to know Sweden as 'first-timers'. We now understand why people fall in love with Scandinavia!
Everyone who comes here never wants to leave, or extend their holiday and come back. During our week we have only met surprised and enthusiastic visitors here and are also 'swept away'.
The brand new owners Roos and Simon are very hospitable and enthusiastic about 'their' nature and want everyone to fully enjoy their place that is so exceptional!
Once you've been here, you don't have to go anywhere else: This IS Sweden!
And whether you want to stay in their new cottage (the only one here) like us (lucky us!) or stay in a tent or small camper near the more or less 'wild'. The water invites and 'everything' is possible here: from a few hours of 'Supping/pedalling' on the lake, to (also multi-day 100km long) endless Canoe trips through unspoilt nature with your own Kayaks/Canoes. (Even 1-way Canoe trips, far away with a pick-up after a few days is possible). Roos and Simon make it all possible for everyone (as long as they have room ! Because even this first year, Agundaborg seemed to become known like wildfire).
To be honest, we also had the most fantastic summer weather, but that was the only thing they didn't arrange for us.
A 100% recommendation for everyone! Because you won't find this anywhere! In my opinion, booking and booking in time is very quickly VERY wise here!
