Holiday homes in Saas-Fee

‘The Pearl of the Alps’ - this is how the famous winter sports village of Saas-Fee in the Valais region is sometimes called. And no wonder, because Saas-Fee is a lovely town with breathtakingly beautiful surroundings. The village lies at the foot of the Mischabel mountain range and is surrounded by huge mountains more than 4,000 metres tall. Here, you’ll find the slopes of the ski areas of Saas-Fee, which attract winter sports fans from all over the world. The most beautiful slopes are the Egginerjoch and the Feechatz: the Fee Glacier. Because of the high altitude, you can ski and snowboard here almost all year round, even in summer. The Fee Glacier can be reached by the Metro Alpin, a funicular train that you can reach again from Saas-Fee via cable car (the Alpin Express).

An authentic village with all the facilities

The slopes of Saas-Fee are well maintained and not really difficult, and this makes the village a popular destination for families with children. There is a beautiful children's area at the valley station of the gondola, where the little ones can practice in peace. Saas-Fee itself is also a great place to be. The village has been inhabited since 1300 and has managed to preserve its authentic charm. This is probably because Saas-Fee has been completely car-free since 1951, meaning that cars have hardly ever driven through the village. With a few nice boutiques, restaurants and charming cafes, Saas-Fee also has plenty of options for shopping and going out.

Interesting facts about Saas-Fee

The famous "Last Christmas" videoclip by Wham! was recorded in Saas-Fee.
Scattered throughout Saas-Fee are several old ‘Spycher’, the typical Saaser storage sheds.
There was once only one municipality in the Saas valley: Saas. This was made up of four villages: Saas-Fee, Saas-Grund, Saas-Balen and Saas-Almagell.
The "Dom" is the highest mountain in Saas-Fee at 4,545 metres. The top of the mountain was first reached in 1858.
