Chalet Chardon is our spacious and bright chalet in the village of Mayens de Chamoson, located on the south with a view over the Rhone valley. The silence is deafening. From the house you can walk straight into the mountains. The chalet is an ideal starting point for the multi-day Tour des Muverans mountain hike. The ski lifts of Ovronnaz (the main lift also runs in summer) are a 5-minute drive away (bus 200 meters from the chalet) and La Tzoumaz (Quatre Vallées) is 35 minutes away. The ski resort of Ovronnaz is relatively snow-sure with 2450 meters of altitude, ideal for the relaxed skier. The village is also (known for its thermal baths. The modern furnished chalet is fully equipped with an open kitchen, a cozy sitting room with wood stove and a lounge annex library. A sauna has also been placed in it. Because we live in it semi-permanently ourselves, the comfort is greater than in a standard holiday chalet. The chalet is located on a quiet, non-through road that is swept clean by the municipality when it snows. Mayens de Chamoson is a small village with only low-rise buildings (chalets), one hotel and one restaurant. The village borders on the somewhat larger Ovronnaz. Mayens-de-Chamoson is therefore ideal for those looking for peace and quiet in summer and winter. Down in the valley, 20 minutes by car, is Chamoson, one of the largest wine regions in Switzerland with numerous caves. Sion with its Friday market and golf course is 30 minutes away, as far as Martigny with the famous Fondation Pierre Gianadda museum. The Great St Bernard pass can be reached in 1 hour with Aosta, Italy on the other side.

We, Bieke and Roelof, have lived outside the Netherlands for work for years. Since 2020 we alternately live in Amsterdam and Mayens-de-Chamoson. In our Chalet Chardon we find peace and relaxation in all seasons. When we are not there, we like to let others enjoy our chalet.

Explanation of the prices & cancellation policy

All prices include all linen, but exclude final cleaning at € 200 and include tourist tax. The deposit is € 400 which we will refund 1 week after your departure from Mayens unless there is damage.

To make a reservation, click on the desired arrival date in the availability calendar. An overview will then appear with possible periods of stay with the corresponding prices. You can then choose to make a reservation. When you have filled in all your details on the next screen, you can click on the "Send" button. You have then made a reservation request. We will receive a message about this by e-mail and text message and will then accept or cancel the request. When we accept the request, we will send you a reservation confirmation. After you have transferred 30% of the total sum, the booking is final. No later than 4 weeks before the start of the rental period, the remaining amount must be paid by you. You will then receive the directions to the house, any additional information and the key. After confirmation of booking, you will receive our standard rental contract via Micazu with further information about our chalet. You should see this rental contract as an addition to your booking in which dates and personal details are already mentioned. Please agree with a simple e-mail: I agree with the rental contract.
We recommend that you take out cancellation insurance yourself, as you will not receive a (full) refund of the rental price from us in the event of cancellation.
We ask you to ensure that your travel insurance or third-party liability insurance covers any damage you may have caused to the chalet and/or its inventory. Chalet is suitable for winter and summer holidays. Pricing is tailored to popular holiday periods.

Location & area recommendations

Additional information

A 5-minute drive away is the ski village of Ovronnaz with 30 km of slopes up to 2450 meters and relatively snow-sure. Across the valley at 35 min is La Tsoumaz with access to the Quatre Vallées ski area.

Chalet is ideal for walks from home. Beautiful walks are:
1. Loutze (1 hour). Refuge 1750 meters with nice buffet (fondue, salads) for lunch
2. Pathier - hamlet with nice views (25 min)
3. the Ardeve rock (30 min)
4. Cabane Rambert (4 hours), mountain hut 2450 meters for the experienced hiker
Or drive to ski lift Ovronnaz (5 min) which also runs in summer and from mountain station Jorasse (1950 m) there are several hikes (including Cabane Rambert). From there you can also do the famous 4-day hiking hut tour (June-Sept), the Tour des Muverans

Golf club de Sion at 30 minutes. Golf club de Sierre 15 minutes away

Pension d'Ovronnaz is the pub/restaurant of Ovronnaz located near the ski lift, ideal for after a skiing/hiking day.
Grimbergen Blanche on tap is highly recommended.
Restaurant Promenade has a somewhat simple kitchen but a great terrace on the South. Just below the restaurant is an old but nice tennis court that can be booked for CHF 20 per hour at the Ovronnaz Tourist Office.

Further down in the village you will find restaurant/bar Le Vieux Valais with good cuisine and also a nice terrace.

Public swimming pools in Sion and Martigny both at 30 min. Both are Olympic (50 meters) and indoor and outdoor. That of Sion is a little nicer with a view of mountains on 3 sides. Restaurant at Martigny is a bit more atmospheric.
Wellness can be found nearby in Ovronnaz (bains d'Ovronnaz) - recently acquired by new investors and now being luxuriously renovated.
