Chalet Schutzhütte

LOCATION
Located in beautiful nature, Blatten, together with the higher Belalp, is one of the most beautiful skiing and hiking areas in the Alps.

HOME
General: spacious and luxurious, detached chalet, directly in the center of the sunny and snow-sure village of Blatten (near Belalp).
Parking: the Chalet has its own parking space. The distance to the chalet is less than 50 meters.

Living room: living room with open kitchen, dining area, sitting area with wood stove, smart television, door to balcony (south-facing balcony).
Kitchen: fully equipped kitchen with refrigerator, freezer, induction hob, oven, coffee maker & kettle.
Toilet
3 Bedrooms, 1x double bed & wardrobe, 1 x two single beds & wardrobe, 1 x bunk bed & cupboard

Beds: all beds have new quality mattresses. There are new single down duvets available.

Bathroom: shower, 2 sinks, toilet and underfloor heating.

Ski storage: underfloor heating, washing machine.

A cot and a high chair are available.

Bed linen and towels in 1 package: it is possible to rent bed linen and towels (please mention when booking). You must pick this up and return it to Beltour (next to the supermarket). You must pay the rental price of the bed linen in advance by bank transfer (we will provide the details).

You must bring your own kitchen linen.

GARDEN
Terrace: there is a garden with a sunny terrace all around. In summer with wooden picnic table & BBQ. Space for snow fun in winter!
Garden furniture: there is garden furniture on the garden terrace and on the balcony: among other things. BBQ, picnic table, garden chairs and a parasol

Nature: Blatten is located in the middle of the Aletsch nature reserve, which has been included in the UNESCO World Natural Heritage since 2002.

ACCESSIBILITY
Own transport: easily accessible by car all year round. The fastest route goes via Basel-Bern-Kandersteg-Goppenstein-Brig-Naters-Blatten.
Station: With the international train connection you can travel comfortably to Switzerland up to Brig. Afterwards there is a good bus service from Brig to Blatten.

Nearby cities: BRIG (distance from Blatten to Brig is 8 km; +/- 15 minutes by car), VISP (approximately 17 km; +/- 30 minutes by car)
Airport: Switzerland: Geneva (international + train connection Brig), Sion (regional). Italy: Malpensa Milan (international).

ACTIVITIES

Summer: oa. children's playground, Brigerbad swimming pool with rapids & slide of 182 meters!
Winter: ski & snow fun
-For adults
including hiking, mountain biking, canyoning, Brigerbad thermal bath, day trip to Zermatt/Matterhorn or Italy/Lake Maggiore.
Golf: golf enthusiasts can visit the golf course just outside Brig, or the golf course in Riederalp at an altitude of 2000m!
Tourist activities: there are plenty of tourist activities to enjoy in Blatten and the immediate surroundings, both in summer and winter.

WINTER SPORTS
Snow certainty: in recent years the area has proven to be particularly snow-sure. There was sufficient snow from December to mid-April
Size of the ski area: lifts up to 3112 m altitude. Slopes: 60 km (20 km blue, 20 km red & 20 km black). Toboggan run: 7 km (also in the evening)
Distance to lifts: the valley station of the gondola is 100m. of the chalet. The gondola takes you from 1325m to 2086m in 7 minutes (Belalp)
Tobogganing / Sledding: from Belalp to Blatten there is a special sledding descent of 7 km in length. A spectacular experience in the evening!
Ski rental: renting skis, ski boots, snowboards, snowboard boots and sleds is possible at 2 sports shops within walking distance.
Ski pass discount: discount on ski passes, FREE for children up to 6 years, 50% for children 6-16 years.
Childcare: childcare in the playground at the ski school at Belalp "Swiss Snow Kids Village", Ski lessons from 4 years, Snowboard lessons from 7 years.
Winter sports season 2022-2023: the winter sports season officially starts in Blatten/Belalp this year on December 17, 2022 to April 2, 2023
Snow cannons: in the Blatten/Belalp ski area there are snow cannons in various places to provide extra snow if necessary.
