Holiday house

Casa Mirador, sea view, private, luxury

Our holiday home is a detached luxuriously furnished and cozy Spanish villa, suitable for 1 to 6 people. The house is in a very quiet and private location on a mountain at an altitude of 283 meters. You have a breathtaking 180 degree view of the sea and the mountains in the other direction. On a clear day you can even see Gibraltar and Africa. Hence also Casa Mirador: viewpoint.

Peace, privacy, luxury, sun, beach, boulevard and terraces
Do you like peace, privacy, luxury and sun? Or do you also like to sit on the boulevard, go to the beach or a beach club or eat tapas on a terrace in a quiet white medieval village? Then you've come to the right place.

Always a place in sun or shade
You have a large veranda around the house with a barbecue, a private swimming pool of 7 x 4 meters, an outdoor shower (hot and cold) and a large private terrace on the south, where you can always find a place in the sun or in the shade. to find. In summer there is sun from 9 am to 9 pm. The sunsets are beautiful!

Luxury bathrooms and kitchen
In the villa you will find a living room and an open kitchen, three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Two bedrooms have a double bed (200x180cm) and one bedroom has two single beds (90x200cm). The master bedroom has the bathroom en suite. The luxurious bathrooms and kitchen were newly built in 2019. The living room has a television with Dutch channels and Netflix on it. The living room and all bedrooms are equipped with air conditioning (cold and hot). There is also a fireplace in the living room. Of course there is wifi in the house and on the terrace. The kitchen is equipped with a large refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, microwave oven, ceramic hob, various kitchen appliances and plenty of cupboard space. A washing machine is also available.

In 10-15 minutes to the beach in Torrox Costa
To stay in this house it is necessary to rent a car. At the house is a carport for two cars. The distance to the beach, the boulevard with restaurants and beach bars and the shops and supermarkets in Torrox Costa is more than 4 kilometers. The house is located at an altitude of 283 meters. The drive there goes via a typical Spanish narrow but safe mountain road, which is less suitable for inexperienced drivers*. The ride takes 10 to 15 minutes. The popular seaside town of Nerja is 15 kilometers away from the house, about 20 minutes drive. From the airport in Málaga it is a 45-minute drive to the house.

White villages and untouched nature
The house is located in the Axaraquía, east of Málaga. This is an area where the weather is always nice and where nature is still untouched. The area is less touristy than on the west side of Málaga. For example, you will encounter many Spanish tourists in Torrox Costa. In the beautiful area, the Moorish influences are visible in the beautiful white mountain villages, such as Torrox Pueblo, Compéta and Frigiliana. There are also many nature parks and mountain ranges with large differences in height, which provide spectacular views. Cozy Nerja is a tourist attraction because of its beautiful beaches, caves and the Balcony of Europe. Other fun day trips are a boat trip from the harbor of Algarrobo Costa, the historic and bustling Málaga, the fashionable resort of Marbella, Granada with the medieval palace and fortress Alhambra and the impressive white city of Ronda, which is split in two by a gorge.

Best climate in Europe
Due to its location on the mountain, there is often a nice breeze. This provides cooling in the summer. Furthermore, Torrox has the best climate in Europe. In 2018, on behalf of a hotel chain, a study was conducted in the Mediterranean region into where the average tourist would feel most comfortable. Torrox became the winner because of the average mild temperatures. In summer it is not so hot and in winter it is not so cold. The average annual temperature is around 18 degrees. The average maximum temperature for the whole year at 21.1 degrees.

*Explanation: the house is at a height and therefore has a beautiful and special view. Because the house is on a mountain, the road leads to it via a narrow mountain road, at the beginning a bit unpaved and with potholes and bumps here and there (not suitable for a low sports car).

Location & area recommendations

Additional information

Our house is located in the Axaraquía, southeast of Málaga. This is a region where the weather is always nice and where nature is still untouched. The area is less touristy than on the west side of Málaga. You will encounter many Spanish tourists in Torrox Costa. In the beautiful area the Moorish influences are visible in the beautiful white mountain villages, such as Torrox Pueblo, Compéta and Frigiliana. There are also many nature parks and mountain ranges with large differences in height, which provide spectacular views.
The cozy Nerja is a tourist attraction because of the beautiful beaches, caves and the Balcony of Europe. It is less than 25 kilometers from our house. Nerja is a true beach paradise, with some of the best beaches on the Costa del Sol. From long sandy beaches such as Burriana and El Playazo to hidden bays such as in the Acantilados de Maro-Cerro Gordo, Nerja is also a charming village with a wide range of activities, without the crowds of a larger city. You can eat out and stroll in the car-free center. There are also the historic 'cuevas de Nerja', which are approximately 5 kilometers long and belong to the largest caves in Europe. They have been in the World Guinness Book of Records since 1989 because the largest underground pillar can also be found here. They also house the oldest Neanderthal cave paintings in the world.
Our house is just over a ten minute drive from the nice seaside town of Torrox Costa, where you can also find many Spanish tourists. Directly along the beautiful long sandy beach is a lively boulevard with shops and restaurants. On the beach itself there are also a number of chiringuitos (Spanish beach bars) where you can eat fresh fish, tapas or paella. In the summer many people stay on the beach for a long time to watch the sun go down. The boulevard is ideal for walking, jogging, cycling or rollerblading. It is very busy in the summer season, nice and quiet outside the summer season. Within walking distance of the beach you can park for free on a large (unpaved) terrain.
Torrox is divided into Torrox Costa (seaside resort) and Torrox Pueblo, which lies a few kilometers further inland. It is a beautifully situated white and authentic Spanish village of 2000 years old. It has a special appearance with the many stairs and the typical Andalusian colorful pots with flowers. Few tourists come because there are no sights apart from the village itself. But it is definitely worth visiting. There is a beautiful square where you can drink a nice wine with tapas for a very quiet price.
A great day out for all the family, and for a change from the beach. This route through the river Río Chillar in Nerja is one of the few walks that is pleasant even in summer. The route runs right through the Sierra de Tejeda, Almijara and the Alhama Natural Park (which also includes the beautiful white village of El Acebuchal). It offers plenty of shade and wonderful swimming in crystal clear water. It is best to wear good sturdy sports shoes that can get soaked. You walk continuously on stones and rocks, so water shoes are not suitable. Do not forget to bring a backpack with enough water and also some food. The hike is tough: 6.2 kilometers from the entrance. Most hikers are on the road for 5 hours. It is also an option to turn around after the narrow gorges to make a shorter hike and still have the experience. It is best to enter the location in Google Maps and drive to the last large parking lot. From here it is about a 20 minute walk to the entrance. There is no entrance fee. The first few kilometers are only pebbles and no water. The southern Spanish port city of Malaga is just under 50 kilometers from our house. More and more people are going to Malaga for a city trip, because culture, shopping and beach come together in this city. There are historic sites such as the ruined Alcazaba and Gibralfaro castles and La Manquita Cathedral. Malaga is the home town of Pablo Picasso and you can view a large collection of his work at the Museo Picasso. In the city itself you will also find many modern things. The buildings are still authentic, but the clean streets and hip shops really give it a luxurious touch. In good weather they even hang cloths over the main shopping street against the heat. Moreover, Malaga is located on the coast and you will find many beaches where you can enjoy the sun and the warm sea water. It is also worth taking a look at the harbor. There are many shops and from the harbor you can take a boat trip and view the city from the sea. Tip for a handy parking garage right in the center and near the harbor: P Central/Marina. Tip to do: go to the Marriot hotel, you can go to the roof terrace for free to enjoy the view over the city, also nice at sunset. You do have to have an (expensive) drink, but it's worth it!
Granada is just over 100 km from our house. It is one of the most special cities in Spain, with historical treasures and the narrow winding streets. In addition to the world-famous Alhambra, you will find many more beautiful and unique sights here. The large Alhambra complex consists of various palaces, forts, halls, towers and patios from the time of the Moors. The area is also beautiful outside the Alhambra. Many gardens have been added. In the Alhambra, Islamic art meets Spanish, Christian art. It is one of the most important sights in the world and is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. For the Alhambra it is wise to book tickets in advance.
From Puerto de Caleta (the harbor at Algarrobo Costa) you can take a boat trip along the coast with a catamaran. It takes 2 hours, during the day, but also later in the evening to see the sunset. It takes 2 hours, 25 euros per person (10 euros for children). Very nice, especially when the weather is nice. And there is a chance that you will spot dolphins (see also the video in the photo overview)! Booking tickets is very easy via Whatsapp (available in English): +34 654 89 73 20, look at www.catamarantours.es for more information. You can also book a private boat trip for 375 euros, for a group of up to 6 people. The trip lasts 4 hours and is largely to your own liking. Check out www.costaboattrips.com.
The white city of Ronda is located in the heart of the Serrania de Ronda, about 150 km from our house (about 2 hours' drive). About 35,000 residents live there. The city is surrounded by beautiful river valleys and is located at the top of a deep canyon. It is a place that really makes your mouth fall open. It is therefore not surprising that it is one of the most visited cities in Spain.
From our house it is about 2.5 hours drive to Gibraltar (on toll roads), but it is definitely worth it! Due to the strong currents, there is a lot of life in the sea off the coast of Gibraltar. A lot of life means a lot of food in the form of schools of sardines to kilos of heavy tuna, shrimp or squid, the favorite food of dolphins. If you book a dolphin spotting boat trip, there is a very good chance that you will see a lot of them. If you are on Gibraltar, a visit to the monkey rock should not be missed. From the harbor it is about a 20 minute walk (through the pleasant shopping street) to the cable car that leads you to the top of the rock. This is a protected nature reserve and the domain of the only wild Barbary macaques in Europe. You can see the monkeys, and besides there is a beautiful view. Gibraltar is a piece of England of 6 km2 in Spain. So don't forget your passport! You can park in front of the border and cross the border on foot, this saves waiting time in line with cars. When you walk across the border into Gibraltar, you walk on the runway of Gibraltar airport, a special experience!
Marbella is a popular holiday destination on the Costa del Sol and is more than 100 kilometers away from our house (1.5 hours' drive). Every year many tourists come to visit the city to enjoy the sun and the sophisticated lifestyle. You will find beautiful boulevards and parks, a beautiful historic center and various museums. Marbella is still visited by rich and famous people. In the marina of Marbella, Puerto Banús, there are many luxury yachts floating around. You can walk around and admire the impressive yachts. It is nice to take a boat trip from the marina to the city (or vice versa), look around there and go back by boat. You can arrange this on site.
