The creatively designed cave house offers all the amenities you need.
The spacious house was carved out of the mountain by the owners themselves and designed in a creative and ecological way.
It has a special atmosphere, is comfortably furnished with many natural elements and materials.
It has a sunny terrace with BBQ that offers a wide and beautiful view of the small rural village and the mountain walls of the gorge in which the village is located.
When you have parked your car and walk about 100 meters up the mountain on a footpath until the path ends, you have arrived at your holiday destination: Cavehouse Andalusia.
The first thing you see is the sunny and spacious Mediterranean terrace of 45 m2 and the fairytale shape of the white facade.
When you enter the cave house through the old wooden doors, you immediately find yourself in the attractively furnished living room with, on the right, a semi-circular sofa of 2 floors (!) that has been carved into the rock and 2 comfortable armchairs. In the corner there is a wood-burning stove. can provide cozy warmth in winter.
On the left you see the open kitchen with cooking and seating island. Straight ahead you see the dining room with a long table with 6 seats.
If you walk into the labyrinth entrance behind the kitchen, you will discover a large luxurious and at the same time very remarkably designed bathroom on your left. This bathroom consists of 2 rooms.
In the first room you will find the sink where the olive tree trunk provides the water. If you walk further, you will enter the bathroom decorated with shells, containing a jacuzzi and a separate walk-in rain shower.
Return to the winding semi-circular hallway and continue back to the bedrooms, you will first see the staircase carved into the rock on your right, leading to a bright double bedroom with views over the village and mountains.
Downstairs again, opposite the stairs, is a narrow corridor in the shape of a snail shell that takes you to the toilet.
If you walk back to the winding main corridor and walk to the end you will see a small single bedroom on the right and straight ahead is the 2nd large double bedroom with 2 single beds.
A total of 5 people can stay in Cavehouse Andalusia.
In summary, the cave house is equipped with:
• Living room with semi-circular lounge sofa on 2 floors, 2 leather art deco armchairs and wood stove.
• Open kitchen with a seating and cooking island containing the hob with oven and refrigerator with freezer.
• Dining room: table with 2 benches and 2 separate chairs
• Bathroom with sink, rain shower and jacuzzi
• 1x double bedroom downstairs with 2 beds of 80x200
• 1x2 person bedroom upstairs with king-size bed (160 x 200 cm)
• 1 small single room with bed of 80 x 200 cm
• Bed and bath linen are included in the price, as well as kitchen textiles.
On the sunny terrace of 45m2 there is a large lounge sofa with coffee table with shade above it.
Because the cave has a constant temperature of around 17-20 degrees in summer and winter, it is nice and cool in summer. In winter the bedrooms are relatively warm (17.5 degrees) and the wood stove only needs to warm up a few degrees in the evening for a pleasant temperature.
Firewood is available.
WiFi reception in the living room is good. You can receive WiFi (own expense) via your own phone.
Cavehouse Andalusia is located in the white village of Gorafé. This village is part of the UNESCO Geopark Granada.
This beautiful and special nature reserve reminds you of the Grand Canyon in the United States. A wide gorge with colorful rock formations, some of which look just like cream pies made from yellow and red colored dough with white 'cream puffs' on top.
Inhospitable, untouched, grand and overwhelming are words that come to mind when you see this for the first time.
The village has a small supermarket that offers everything you need. There are also 2 bar-restaurants and a pharmacy. The village has 368 inhabitants, most of whom live in cave houses.
The village is located in a beautiful almost unspoilt area that you can explore on foot, by mountain bike (rental options) or with a 4x4 tour to admire and admire the almost surreal stone desert landscape.
35 km away are 2 larger towns that offer further amenities: Baza in the north and Guadix in the south.
The tourist attraction of Granada is less than an hour's drive from Gorafé (80 km). In the summer months (May-Sept) the warm water thermal swimming pool is open, 8 km away.
