Our Kaia

If you are looking for a holiday home where you can relax, enjoy life with a bottle of wine, olives and cheese next to the pool or just make your own pizza in a real wooden pizza oven, then you're on the right Place. Our house is located in the hills in a beautiful little village with only a few inhabitants named Vale de Mouro. The village is about 15 minutes drive from Mortagua.

Our house is perfectly suited for a family. We basically have 2 houses on a building, but one or both are only rented to a family or group. The whole property is therefore only for you for the duration of the holiday. There are 2X200 square meters of houses on a very large yard. Our KaiaHuis one we call "Ons Kaia". In Afrikaans it means "Our house" In this house there are 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. 3 of the bathrooms are en-suite and 1 bathroom is just downstairs. All bedhandlers have a shower, toilet and sink. Downstairs is a very large living room with a couch for 6 to 8 people, a dining room with a table and 6 chairs (can also accommodate 8 people) and a very large kitchen with all amenities. There is a large fridge, a magnatrom, oven, dishwasher, Dolce Gusto and Nespresso coffee makers, etc. There is also a large firebox for heating the house in winter. Lapa side House two is called "Lapa Side" and that means in Afrikaans "the other side" This house has a very large bedroom with an en-suite bathroom, another small bedroom with a separate bathroom, a very large 80 square meter open room with a pool table, sofa for 6 persone, 65-inch TV, large kitchen / dining room fully equipped and with an 8 seater dining table. This house can be rented for an additional fee per person for families or groups with more than 8 people or just for an additional amount for the use of the other facilities.

Other facilities.
There is a 10 X 4 meter swimming pool for the use of guests. There is a pool cover on this pool (when it is not in use) and ensures the safety of the children but also the same for a water temperature of 30 degrees in the summer. There is also a wooden pizza oven and a Barbecue (braai in Afrikaans) on which guests can prepare pizzas and other delicious dishes. Guests are simply provided with towels and linen. Swimming towels can also be provided for a small additional cost. Fresh linen is provided to guests once a week. Guests can arrive from 14:00 and depart again at 11:00.

Our environment in Portugal Mortagua.
Mortagua is the largest village in our area and about 10 to 15 minutes drive from Vale de Mouro. There are 2 very large supermarkets, banks, medical care practices, a hospital, lots of shops and even a very large wine farm. Near Mortagua (about 2 km) there is a village called Vale de Acores. On Thursdays there is a market here where "Frango do Churasco" can be eaten together with the locals. It is a traditional chicken barbecue with fries, salad and of course red wine (Vinho Tinto). You can also cycle around Mortagua, go hiking, horse riding, fishing and much more.

PAREDES
Paredes is about 20km away from Vale de Mouro and is known for its beautiful waterfalls.

AVEIRO
The seaside town Aveiro is about 50 minutes drive from Vale de Mouro. Here you have miles of beaches and early morning fish can also be bought on the beach at the fishermen when they put their boats on the starnd. Aveiro also has a very large city with a canal on which many gondolas sail, like in Venice. It is also known as the Venice of Portugal. Here are also very large shopping malls.

A NOSSA SENHORA DO RIBEIRA
At this location there is a beach next to a dam where you can rent sunbeds and umbrellas and even jet skis.

LUSO (about 8km from Vale de Mouro)
Luso is a world-famous village and tourists are often brought here for the hot springs. It is believed that there are healing qualities in the water. Luso is also the location where the Bussaco National park is located. This park is a Unesco World Heritage site with trees that are hundreds of years old. In this park you can simply make walking and cycling.

COIMBRA (about 30km from Vale de Mouro)
Coimbra is a very beautiful and very old student city. At the University you can also visit one of the oldest libraries in Europe. Besides the old city, there is also a modern new city with very large shopping malls. Just outside Coimbra there is also an ancient ruin for lovers of history
