Casa na Colina is located in a slightly quieter, hilly part of the eastern Algarve. In addition to beautiful nature and a great view, it offers you plenty of privacy. The house is located at the end of an unpaved path that goes up through the hills, quiet, but not far from all kinds of nice sights and/or shops and restaurants. It is an authentic Portuguese house with thick walls and small windows to keep out the summer heat, but with a large terrace including barbecue and paddling pool to fully enjoy the outdoors. 

Casa na Colina consists of 2 independent houses attached to each other with a terrace over the entire length of both houses, private driveway/parking spaces and a piece of land with some fruit trees. If you book with 2 adults and small children, you will have access to the 'main house' (children will sleep in the living room), if you book with more than 3 adults and/or older children, the outbuilding, the so-called 'cottage', is also available, with its own entrance, bathroom and kitchen. Because it has a communal terrace, it is only rented to passengers who belong to each other, so that privacy and tranquility are guaranteed.

The 'main house' has a double bed in the bedroom and 2 sofa beds in the living room. The 'cottage' has 2 bedrooms, 1 with a double bed and 1 with a single bed, private kitchen, living room and bathroom. For toddlers there is a cot, children's bath and potty available. Both houses have plenty of outdoor space where you can enjoy the sun, nature and the view in complete privacy. Directly behind the house there are all kinds of hiking trails into nature. The swimming pool offers cooling on hot summer days. The terrace can be completely closed off by means of gates, useful for both small children and any dogs.

The house is half an hour from the beach and Faro airport and about 5 minutes from the nearest shops in the village of Santa Catarina. Here you will find all the basic necessities, restaurants, a good bakery and an ATM. Large supermarkets (Intermarché, Lidl, Aldi, Pingo Doce, etc.) are about a 15-20 minute drive away in São Bras de Alportel, Moncarapacho or Tavira.

Authentic Portuguese fishing villages such as Tavira, Santa Luzia, Fuzeta and Olhão are about half an hour's drive away, as is Faro with its beautiful old city center and various museums. The (lesser-known) hinterland of the Algarve guarantees unspoiled nature and beautiful views where hiking and nature lovers can indulge themselves. Birdwatchers in particular will get their money's worth with blue magpies, storks, nightingales (in summer), owls, hoopoes, orioles, etc. 

The coast offers you a wide choice of various beaches, fishing villages, restaurants and shops.

The house stands on 2400 m2 of land where oranges, olives, grapes, almonds and pomegranates grow. In the right seasons you can pick!

It was love at first sight when we saw this house in 2014 and especially because of the views, the tranquility and the privacy. Enjoying breakfast on the terrace in sunny weather is the perfect start to the day for us. One moment you are between the hills, but within half an hour's drive you are in nice places like Tavira, Olhão and Faro, so plenty of variety. Especially suitable for peace seekers, hikers and bird lovers, for example. Car is necessary. Will you also come and enjoy this place?

Explanation of the prices & cancellation policy

The price is based on a stay with 2 people. For each additional person (from 3 years)  you pay 100 Euro per week extra. The price includes a full linen package (towels/tea towels, bath towels + bed linen) plus final cleaning based on a 'broom clean' house. If the latter is not the case, an additional €50 cleaning fee may be charged. 
Until 2025, no tourist tax will be levied in the municipality of Tavira, however, this may change. We reserve the right to pass on the costs to you if this happens and will inform you of this as soon as possible.
In the less warm period (from 15 November to 1 April), we will charge the electricity consumption on the basis of actual use (30ct/kWh). This is because of the possibility to heat the house electrically in addition to the well-functioning wood-burning fireplace, which can add up considerably.

Casa na Colina is a fully restored in traditional style farmhouse on a plot of 2400 m2 with a cozy atmosphere, complete privacy and stunning views. The terrace is, if desired, fully lockable with fine iron fence so children can not wander off while you soak a book is read. Also the pool is separated from the terrace with a hash.

Casa na Colina means house in the hills and that says exactly what it is. The house is at the end of the valley, halfway up the hill, and gives a magnificent view over Porto Carvalhoso and the surrounding hills.

The area offers hiking, mountain biking, sightseeing tours and of course various restaurants to enjoy the Portuguese cuisine.
In het huis ligt een informatiemap met allerlei suggesties voor dagtochten, bezienswaardigheden, wandeltochten, informatie over dichtstbijzijnde winkels, restaurants, dokters etc. Tevens vindt u in het huis diverse boeken, tijdschriften en spellen.
Casa na Colina ligt in een rustig, heuvelachtig gebied, buiten het massatoerisme, maar toch op een kleine afstand van allerlei leuke plaatsen, goede restaurants en prima winkels. Hier maakt u deel uit van het authentieke Portugese leven. Geniet van de rust, het uitzicht, de enorme sterrenhemel die doordat er vrijwel geen straatverlichting is zoveel mooier is dan in Nederland, de Portugese keuken en natuurlijk de geweldige natuur.
