Location
Our villa is located on the outskirts of Portimao. From Faro airport you can drive here in forty minutes. The hill on top of which we live provides peace and quiet, also because our street is a dead end.
Villa Calma
Our house is spacious. Take a look at the photos. In the living room you will find air conditioning, which we never use ourselves since the house is cool by itself. There is of course a wifi network and a TV.
The kitchen is modern and equipped with what you need. The outside door of the kitchen leads to the balcony where you will find a quiet place with a view of Monchique.
The villa has three bedrooms, each with a double bed. Two bedrooms have a door that opens to the pool area. The two bathrooms, spread out on either side of the house, both have a walk-in shower. There is a toilet in one of the bathrooms. Next to the other bathroom is a separate toilet.
With three double beds in three bedrooms, six people are welcome at the same time at Villa Calma.
Facilities
You will find the following facilities in our villa:
Living room: air conditioning in the living room, TV, heating plates, wood stove, blue tooth box (in a lamp)
Kitchen: electric hob, multifunction oven, microwave, extractor hood, wine fridge, air fryer, fryer, gourmet, food processor, dishwasher, washing machine, dryer,
Around the pool: sunbeds, terrace, outdoor kitchen (including bbq), dining table
The free Wi-Fi network works throughout the villa.
In the containers, diagonally opposite the villa, you will find the containers so that the separated waste can be brought there directly.
You can park for free in front of the door.
House rules
'Rules' are not really necessary, we expect. Everyone is very welcome and undoubtedly realizes how to deal with a house like ours. What we do think is important to explicitly mention here is:
- pets are not allowed;
- smoking is only allowed outside the villa;
- glassware in and around the pool is not allowed;
- fireworks are not allowed;
- The peace and quiet in our street is a great thing. Keep this in honor;
- We do not rent the villa to groups of young people precisely because of that tranquility.
Half-time
In our cul-de-sac, our neighbors and we are sometimes dependent on each other. It has provided a nice contact for years, as you hope you can have with neighbors. The peace and quiet we offer each other partly determines this contact. We assume that our guests understand this and contribute to the peace and quiet in our street. Our great evening friend, Bob the tawny owl, who likes to nestle in our trees, will undoubtedly appreciate it.
The area
- The beautiful beaches with rock formations as a backdrop can be reached within fifteen minutes. Praia da Vau, Praia da Rocha and Praia dos très Irmaos are really more than relaxation. By the way, enjoy a great view at Praia da Vau and a good cup of coffee at Pai do Tomas. On the west coast, the Atlantic Ocean has free rein and the wave surfers can be found at Aljezor and Vila de Bispo.'
- Directly opposite the villa you can take a walk through 'the bush', even towards the Monchique mountains. This requires appropriate footwear, because the bush is really the bush.
- Outside Portimao you will find places such as Ferragudo, Alvor (with the nice Sunday market), Lagos, Cavoeiro, Monchique, Luz, Burgau, Lagoa, Porches (with the famous pottery), Loulé and Guia. On the west side of Faro you will find Mar Shopping, a large shopping centre.
- The 'end of Europe' can be found at Sagres, a special place on the southwest coast where the rocks will leave a lasting impression.
- Especially in the summer months, but also throughout the year, each city has its own festivals with and without BP (Famous Portuguese). For example, you can experience the summer in Portimao with the Sardine Festival, Mar me Quer and various food and drink festivals.
- Golf enthusiasts can of course practice their sport on all sides in our area. Well-known golf courses near us Morgado Golf, Alto Golf and Penina Golf.
- The above is all true, but in our 'environment' the restaurant Dom Alecrim of our dear Brazilian friends Izabelle and Pedro often plays a nice role. At the bottom of our hill, this restaurant is not to be missed. Neither is the price/quality, for that matter.
If you have any questions, please contact Nathan and Julia.
Nathan, Margaret's son, lives in the apartment next to the house with his girlfriend Julia. This apartment is separate from the villa. Nathan and Julia are of course available for all questions.
Our other family members are the Portuguese four-legged friends Figo, Elsa and Barney. Figo and Elsa are dogs that we picked up from the street, and lead a (too) wonderful life with us. Barney is a Labrador with a Portuguese disposition. These family members sleep with Nathan and Julia in the apartment and during the day they have their own place. They will find it on a lower, enclosed part of the garden.
