The holiday home
De Uythoeck is a detached holiday home for 6 people and is located in Westerschouwen, next to Burgh-Haamstede. It has a large green garden (approx. 500m2) with several terraces, both in the sun and in the shade and space for two cars on the private driveway.
The cottage is equipped with a well-facilitated, open kitchen which also includes a table with 6 chairs. A spacious sitting area around the fireplace, and a separate seating area by the large window. Wonderful to sit in the sun in spring and autumn, when it is just too cold outside.
There are 3 bedrooms and two bathrooms with walk-in shower and toilet. An extra sitting area and desk have been created on the mezzanine, making this - together with the free wifi - also an ideal place for a 'workation'. The barbecue in the garden can be used freely.
Surroundings
The cottage is located on a quiet, private holiday park with the small village center of Westerschouwen only a 200m walk away. Here you will find a supermarket, (electric) bicycle rental and several restaurants including a pizzeria, fish restaurant and pancake house. If you walk 5 minutes further, you will find a trampoline park, a climbing forest, a playground and a number of restaurants.
There is also the Westerschelde Forestry here, which is the gateway to the largest forest in Zeeland and the dune transition to the wide beach of Burgh-Haamstede, no less than 11 km long! The forestry also regularly organizes activities, such as bat walks, net fishing in the surf and trips along and through the many bunkers in Zeeland.
Nature
Westerschouwen is located at the very tip of Schouwen-Duiveland, also known as the "Kop van Schouwen". The coast around this nature reserve is characterized by extensive and wide sandy beaches and a very diverse dune landscape with beautiful flora and fauna. The dune area flows into a large forest with many walking and cycling paths.
You won't find mass tourism, but you will find roe deer, fallow deer, Konik horses, sand lizards and many birds. You can spot seals on the sandbanks off the coast and at the jetties and stone piers you can catch crabs, fish and shells.
Around the corner are the world-famous Delta Works (Neeltje Jans) with the impressive Oosterscheldekering. A fifteen-minute drive away is the Grevelingenmeer with the Brouwersdam for various (water) sports activities.
In addition, the cottage is a 10-minute drive from the picturesque Burgh-Haamstede and Renesse and you can drive to Zierikzee, Goes, Veere and Middelburg in about half an hour to three quarters of an hour.
