Buitenplaats de Kolonist is located in an area where the ridges of Drenthe formed in the ice age change into a low-lying wetland. Areas such as the Woldberg and the Eese are interspersed with lakes and ponds of De Wieden and De Weerribben around Giethoorn and Ossenzijl. No wonder that the area is very popular with tourists. Nature shows itself in many faces.

There is a beautiful fishing pond on the campsite that is regularly used by our guests for relaxed fishing. The Jodenveentje and the Koningsveentje are also a short distance away, where you can also enjoy fishing with a permit that can be picked up free of charge at our reception. The Jodenveentje and the Koningsveentje are owned by the Heideveld Foundation.
For the children there is an annual splashing and filled entertainment program and there is various playground equipment on the site.
Brasserie De Huiskamer offers a range of options, the restaurant and snack bar is open daily on weekends and the holiday period. During the holiday period, the Brasserie is open from 11:00-0:00.
The lovely fresh swimming pool and the terrace with natural umbrellas that were planted in 2011 and have since grown into beautiful roof plane trees provide wonderful accommodation.
