Monumental guesthouse La Fleur is an old cigar and cigarette shop in the heart of the historic fortified town of Heusden (on the Maas).
It dates from 1583 and was last used as a shop in 1995. After that, it stood empty for 31 years. In recent years it has been thoroughly restored while retaining authentic details.
The house is located on the central square (Vismarkt) with all catering facilities. It offers a unique opportunity to sleep a few nights in a historic building, with all the comforts of today.
Heusden fortress is a beautifully restored town, surrounded by ramparts and moats. When you walk through the old streets you imagine yourself in the Middle Ages. Only 1200 people live within the fortress walls. It is small-scale and friendly.
There is a bakery, a supermarket, and a diverse range of small shops, including a nice flea shop.
In short, something for everyone. Plenty of walking routes, restaurants, a flea market every 1st Saturday of the month. There are cycling routes, windmills, guided tours, two marinas (rent a boat - sail on the Maas), Loonse and Drunense dunes, the Efteling, Golfpark de Haverleij, the city of s'Hertogenbosch, the island of Nederhemert and the Schoenenkwartier in Waalwijk. On bezoekdelangstraat nl you can read what there is to do in the area
Plenty of parking space in the immediate vicinity.
Please note: There is a fairly steep staircase in the house, so it is not suitable for people with walking difficulties.
