Wâldhúske is Frisian for forest farm. This house was built in 1870 and completely restored and redecorated by ourselves.
We have retained the atmosphere of the past, but still provided the house with a lot of comfort.
This makes the house unique and romantic.
In winter it is wonderfully cozy and comfortably heated by underfloor heating. You can also heat with the nostalgic stove in the front room.
In summer the house is nice and cool, which improves your night's sleep.
The house is located on a quiet cobbled road just outside Burgum, but the center is less than 2 km away. Can be reached on foot or by bike via a beautiful path through the forest.
At night it is dark and quiet. Wonderful if you come for nature and want to relax. There are many beautiful walking and cycling paths nearby, and within walking distance is the 'Soestpolder' nature reserve with a lookout tower over the Bergumermeer.
- You can quickly walk into the forest at 200 m.
- The Soestpolder nature reserve with lookout tower over the Burgumermar (Bergumermeer) is 1.7 km away.
- The Observeum (public observatory and regional museum) is only 850 m away.

Sustainability.
This concept goes beyond waste separation, good insulation and LED lighting.
We would also like to make a distinction in this area. We want to extend this to all (future) choices we make.
We generate all the electricity ourselves, using solar collectors. The building is partly heated by a heat pump.
A wind turbine is planned as the next project.
The furnishing of the 'wâldhúske' has been done with as much 'refurbished' furniture as possible.
Is something broken? Then we first see if it can be repaired before we replace it.
Cleaning is done with as many natural resources as possible.
The house can be rented from 2 nights.
Check-in is possible from Monday to Saturday, check-out is possible every day.
Check-in is between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM, and check-out is until 10:30 AM.
