This former wine farm is located in a recognized UNESCO World Heritage area and consists of two parts. The rental area is located in the original house, with the old wine cellar underneath that reminds us of the agricultural past of the place. The house is located in a quiet and quiet location, in the middle of the hilly landscape of Piedmont, with lots of space and nature around it.
The house is ideally suited for peace seekers and nature lovers. The location is quiet and open; on one side of the site live Italian neighbors, from whom you sometimes get the sounds of daily life. On the other side, the site extends into space and tranquility. It is a nice place for people who want to experience Italy as it is: the landscape, the wine, the local cuisine and the rhythm of the outdoors. The house is less suitable for partying young people or groups looking for crowds and nightlife.
Enter through the hall with stairs into a spacious sitting room and a fully equipped kitchen. The living room is meant to be together, but our experience is that life here mainly takes place outside. Due to its sheltered location, you can quickly sit comfortably on the terrace when there is a little sun, even in spring and autumn. The kitchen is suitable for extensive cooking, although the refrigerator is a bit on the compact side. On the ground floor there is also a separate room with toilet and bidet, where the washing machine and dryer are also located.
On the first floor are two enclosed bedrooms: one with a double bed and two extra beds, and one with two single beds. In addition, there is a third sleeping area, a full-fledged room that is separated by a curtain and is especially suitable for children or guests within one family. The bathroom is equipped with shower, sink and toilet. The house does not have air conditioning, but thanks to the thick walls, the heat stays outside for a long time in summer, provided that shutters and doors remain closed during the day.
Outside, to the front of the house, there is a large terrace with sun almost all day, sheltered by a large pine tree. Under the pergola is a long marble table, a natural place for communal meals. Spread over the site you can always find both sunny and shady spots. In a small barn there is an authentic pizza oven. The above-ground swimming pool (7 × 4 meters) is located a little further in the garden and offers complete privacy; no one else comes here. The site is large and natural, not fenced, which offers a lot of freedom but also requires caution with younger children.
We regularly stay in the other part of the farm. The living areas and terraces are separate, but it is possible that you will occasionally encounter us outside. When we are present, our Frisian Staby is also with us: a friendly dog who usually announces visitors with enthusiasm. She is staying with us. We are happy to share tips about the local area, restaurants, markets and walks and are available if there are any questions.
The house is located in the middle of one of the most famous wine regions in Italy. Barbera wines are produced in the immediate vicinity, and the wine regions around Barolo and Barbaresco are about half an hour's drive away. Throughout the year, the region regularly hosts local festivities and village festivals, almost always linked to good food and wine.
A larger village with all daily amenities is a five-minute drive away. Asti, a historic town, is about fifteen minutes away. Places such as Nizza Monferrato and Alba are also easily accessible. Turin is about 45–60 minutes away by car, or about half an hour by train from Asti, where you get off right in the center. In addition, antique markets are regularly organized in the area, spread throughout the region.
The hilly landscape is very suitable for cycling; E-bikes are available for rent nearby, which makes exploring the area extra accessible. Several walking routes start from the house. A special walk takes you past places where fossil remains have been found of a whale that lived here about five million years ago — a tangible reminder of the geological past of this area.
There is parking for two to three cars directly at the house.
