Holiday homes in Tignale
Tignale is located on a plateau on the west side of the famous Lake Garda. It actually consists of six separate villages, of which Gardola is the ‘main village’. Tignale lies at an altitude of about 550 metres, far away from the more popular tourist towns of Lake Garda such as Riva del Garda, Desenzano del Garda and Manerba del Garda. Tignale is next to a huge nature park: Parco Alto Garda Bresciano, that covers much of the western shore of Lake Garda, from Limone del Garda to Salò. You will find numerous walking and cycling routes in the area, which will take you to the most beautiful spots with amazing views. Tignale is surrounded by olive trees and fruit orchards, which offer beautiful views of Lake Garda and Monte Baldo on the other side. From the "main village" of Gardola, a beautiful walking route leads downhill, which eventually ends at Lake Garda itself via the village of Oldesio. You will find the port of Tignale on the lakefront, with a beautiful beach to relax on. Take a refreshing dip or have a drink at the local bar. Besides swimming, you can also learn to windsurf here at a real Italian surf school. A holiday home in Tignale is also an ideal base for other trips in the area. The fishing town of Garda, for example, is highly recommended, as is the fortified town of Peschiera. Nice things to know about Tignale:
- The six villages of Tignale are called Gardola, Aer, Olzano, Prabione, Piovere and Oldesio.
- The most famous landmark in Tignale is ‘Santuario di Montecastello’, a pilgrimage church for Mary. The church is built on a steep rock at an altitude of 700 metres above Lake Garda.
- Other special churches in the Tignale area are the San Pietro in Gardola and the San Giorgio in Varolo.
