Villa Xenia is located on the outskirts of Kamilari (South Crete). A beautiful house with a magnificent view. With this house our dream has been realized to create a hospitable place for people who want to enjoy Crete. The name of our Villa is 'Xenia' which means hospitality in Greek. We also want to radiate that with our house.

An hour's drive from Heraklion airport you will find Kamilari, an authentic Greek village on the edge of the Messara plain, overlooking the mountains and the sea! Here you can get acquainted with the real Greek hospitality.
Bougainvilleas grow in the alleys of Kamilari, which are in bloom for much of the year. In this traditional village much is built with local natural stone and this has made Kamilari a beautiful village.
In Kamilari there are several restaurants, a supermarket, a bakery and other amenities, and these are all within walking distance of Villa Xenia.

The quiet sandy beach of Kalamaki is 5 minutes by car, with its pleasant boulevard with small restaurants. It's also a nice walk within an hour.

We are Hans and Elly. We have pledged our hearts to Greece and fully enjoy the landscape, culture, food, beautiful villages and hospitality of South Crete. In Kamilari and surroundings we find what we love the most: beautiful villages, beautiful walks, views, archaeological sites, friendly people and good food. With Villa Xenia we have realized our dream to have a (t) house in a beautiful place to relax and enjoy.

There is an information folder with sights, walks and tours in the area.
Our property is supervised by a caretaker who is always available to guests in case of questions or emergencies. The manager speaks English and German.

Immediately after booking you will receive a confirmation by email. Subsequently, the deposit of 50% of the rent must be paid within two weeks. The remaining payment must be made 6 weeks before the start of the rental period.

Arrival between 2 pm and 9 pm.
Departure before 11 am on the day of departure.

Kamilari is a beautiful village, where bougainvilleas are in bloom for much of the year. In Kamilari you can choose from a number of authentic restaurants where you can enjoy lunch or dinner. All this within walking distance of our house. Nothing more delicious than eating outside in the streets of Kamilari in the evening. In each of the restaurants, hospitality is critical. In some, you can even look in the kitchen to choose what to eat.

The quiet sandy beach of Kalamaki with its pleasant boulevard with small restaurants, immediately provides the ultimate holiday feeling. It is 5 minutes by car. It can also be reached in an hour via a nice walk.

Matala gives you the real hippie feeling through its past as a hippie stronghold. Atmospheric and pleasant to visit. The chalk cliffs, the beach and world famous sunset provide an unforgettable experience.

Agia Galini is a picturesque town with many restaurants, shops and beaches

The beach of Agio Faraggo is very beautiful. But it is a challenge to get there. You will have to combine this beach visit with a nice walk (but that is not a punishment). We have described the different options in our folder with walks.

On Saturday you can visit the market in Mires where many local products are sold. Taste the real Cretan atmosphere there. The regional hospital is located in Mires and here you will also find numerous shops. A short drive away there are the larger supermarkets.

Zaros, een dorp in de bergen, waar je ook mooie wandelingen kunt maken, onder andere naar de Rouvas kloof.

Op 2,5 km afstand vind je Phaistos, een paleis uit de Minoïsche tijd. Waar bij Knossos sprake is van een complete reconstructie in beton, wordt in Phaistos veel aan je eigen verbeelding over gelaten. Maar kijk om je heen. Vanaf Phaistos heb je een schitterend uitzicht over de Messara-vlakte, en zicht op de witte toppen van het Psiloritis-gebergte. Dit was ruim 3500 jaar geleden al een prachtige plaats voor een nederzetting. De wereldberoemde discus van Phaistos is hier gevonden.
