Peace, space and beautiful views in a picturesque village 300km from Breda. Cozy location and small village, fully equipped. Base for hiking, cycling, beach.

The house to rent is part of Les Maisons de Pompel, two original Picardy houses on a plot of 3000 m2 in the medieval village of Bernâtre that you have to yourself.

Through the back door or the side gate you enter the garden. Here you can enjoy the view, read, BBQ, or just laze around. At night it is dark and quiet with only the sound of owls. Opposite the house is a castle. On the outskirts of the village starts a walking/cycling path that runs to Abbeville. You can use the 4 bicycles in the cave. 4 km away is Auxi-le-Chateau with supermarkets, bakeries, laundry and market on Saturdays.

Pompel is the protagonist of children's books that Richard wrote in the autumn and winter, when he was in France with his wife. His children; Ian, Yonne and Jaak now manage the holiday home for the family.

In the vicinity of Bernâtre there are various activities. You can walk in the village or visit the beautiful garden of Maizicourt (4 km). In the summer you can pick strawberries at the farm itself. From Auxi-le-Chateau are some beautiful hiking trails. In this town canoeing on the Authie is also possible.
In the somewhat wider surroundings but within a distance of 50 km, you have many possibilities for excursions. For beach lovers there is the beautiful wide beach of Fort Mahon with various water sports. For culture lovers there is plenty to do. There are many castles, abbeys, small museums and historical sites. For nature lovers there is the huge nature reserve Marquenterre, an area that provides a resting place for migratory birds and many other species. A walk in one of the many dune areas is also a possibility.
