Holiday homes in Pas-de-Calais

Sea air with a salty tang, lovely landscapes, polders (land regained from the sea) and cities full of culture: Pas-de-Calais has something for everyone. This region is located in northern France, on the Channel and the North Sea, at the crossroads between Belgium and Great-Britain. The lovely beaches have pebbles or sand and offer great opportunities for kitesurfing, water sports and long beach walks. Further inland, there is also plenty to do for all ages. This makes Pas-de-Calais a great choice for a weekend break, a midweek stay or a longer holiday. So, pack your suitcase and book your holiday home in Pas-de-Calais. For convenience, with Micazu, you always book directly with the owner, and you’ll get a great deal.

Taking in the breeze on the Opal Coast

The resorts and beaches along the ‘Opal Coast’ form the backdrop for a lovely beach holiday. Even in Spring and Autumn, you can enjoy the invigorating breeze on some great walks and cycle rides. The entire coastline is dotted with steep cliffs, typical fishing villages and splendid dunes. There are many cultural and historic attractions, such as the imposing cathedral in the town of Saint-Omer. And why not take a look inside the ancient city walls of Boulogne-sur-Mer and Montreuil-sur-Mer. In the narrow alleyways, you’ll find an abundance of quaint little shops and restaurants where you can tuck into the scrumptious local fare. We also recommend the boulevard of the charming resort of Wimereux.

Fun facts about Pas-de-Calais

  • On a fine day, you can spot the English coast from the imposing Capes of Blanc-Nez and Gris-Nez.
  • The culinary specialties of the region include Maroilles (a pungent cheese) and boulette d’Avesnes, which consists of pieces of maroilles cheese that haven’t quite made the grade, blended with tarragon, parsley, cloves and black pepper, shaped into cones and rolled through ground paprika.
  • On 1 January 2016, Pas-de-Calais officially joined with the Picardy region
  • The Dutch name for Calais is Kales. Pas-de-Calais means something like ‘’the Straits of Kales’.
