Gite Domaine de Savigny

The gite of Domaine de Savigny in the Nièvre (Burgundy) in central France is over 80m² and is completely private on the domain of an old hunting lodge. Everything is there for a successful holiday! The gite consists of a spacious kitchen with large fireplace and wood burning stove, a living room with cozy sitting area and wood burning stove, a hall, a spacious bathroom and a large, light bedroom.

In the gite, the counter in the kitchen and the sink in the bathroom are installed at a pleasant working height. Longer people are taken into account. The gite is completely ground floor, so even if you have difficulty walking, you can easily move back and forth.

In the bedroom of the gite there are two comfortable box-spring beds, made up as a double bed and there is a large sofa bed for a possible third guest. Garden furniture, parasol, washing machine, dryer and combi microwave are available. As well as bed linen, kitchen towels and towels.

The bathroom of the gite has a wonderful spacious shower, a sink and a toilet. The living room is equipped with a comfortable sofa and a comfortable armchair around the wooden coffee table. This is a nice place to sit by the wood stove. The country kitchen with large authentic fireplace offers everything needed to try the Burgundian culinary arts yourself. You can park your car near the gite and your bike or motorcycle can be stored dry in the spacious barns of Domaine de Savigny.

The gite has a beautiful walled courtyard with its own sunny terrace where you can enjoy a good glass of wine and the view over the Burgundy hills until late in the summer. From the bedroom, hallway and from the kitchen, double doors open directly onto the terrace. There is a second terrace on the other side of the gite, near the garden. There is shade here, so that you can also be outside on very hot days, but not necessarily in the full sun.

You can also enjoy the park garden around the chambres d'hôtes and gîte of Domaine de Savigny. You can take a walk through the park garden, or sit in the orchard, by the pond or just somewhere among the old trees in the grass ...

Additional information

Bed and breakfast Domaine de Savigny is located in the Nièvre, a department of Burgundy in central France. St. Saulge is within walking distance of the bed and breakfast. The village with the legend of the church and the cow (just take a look at the church tower), but also with a great boulangerie, a supermarket and a nice restaurant. Whether you want to laze with a book on the terrace of the bed and breakfast or the whole week, or just want to go out and discover the outdoor possibilities, everything is possible in the vicinity of Domaine de Savigny! The village of St. Saulge can be praised for its mountain bike routes! The various routes together cover no less than 350 kilometers and all start in the village itself. There is a nice route for every mountain bike level. And also with the racing bike or touring bike it is wonderful to explore the area! You can make beautiful walks in the area. Short or long, along canals, through hills or through old villages. And for the real sportive, it is possible to go wild water canoeing on the Yonne or rafting in the Morvan. Beautiful trips can be made on horseback through the hills or the forest near St. Saulge. A delightful swimming lake is located five minutes drive from Domaine de Savigny in the woods. A place where you can take a refreshing dip on hot summer days. There are also two large lakes about a 15-minute drive from our bed and breakfast, where you can sail, surf and of course also swim. A beautiful boat trip starts over the old and partly underground canal du Nivernais. We will be happy to tell you during your stay where the best activities are or arrange these for you. Burgundy is a region with many historic villages and towns that are well worth seeing. Some of these villages and towns even date back to Roman times. The castles that you see everywhere in the landscape are reminiscent of glory times of long ago. In the surroundings of Domaine de Savigny, several castles are open for visitors. The history and the old wealth can be found in the houses and small streets. Be surprised by the beautiful historic centers, old houses, beautiful stately buildings, narrow streets and monumental courtyards. Cities like Vézelay (with its nice little streets and the impressive Basilica de La Madeleine) and Nevers (with the majestic Palais Ducal) are more than worth your visit and are just a stone's throw away. The cozy streets with nice shops and terraces in Nevers offer a nice change from the quiet, green hills of the countryside. Avallon, Autun and Sancerre are also beautiful old cities to spend a day. Only the routes to it are already a party! The wines from Burgundy are famous all over the world. The wine caves in the area are therefore more than worth a visit. For example, the wine region around Sancerre and Pouilly ((beautifully situated between the hills) is a feast for the eyes and the wines are delicious! You can see with your own eyes how wine is made and taste the various types. In the region are also a number of great wine routes that you can follow, and if you want to taste those wines at a delicious dinner, you can. The French know better than anyone how to prepare the food, so why not indulge yourself in a good (and in relation to the Netherlands) restaurant. We gladly show you the way to the nicest wine caves in the area and the tastiest restaurants! You are also welcome to join us at the table d'hôtes of Domaine de Savigny. a stone's throw from the bed and breakfast and the Domaine de Savigny, the beautiful Parc Naturel Régional du Morvan, also known as the 'granite heart' of Burgundy, is a protected mountain landscape with an altitude of up to 900 meters, where the Yon ne and a number of smaller rivers. In this area of 70 by 50 kilometers are a number of very attractive recreational lakes, such as the Lac des Settons and the Lac de Pannesière. And there are plenty of opportunities for outdoor sports such as climbing and mountain biking. In the Morvan is also an important historical park, Bibracte, with remains from Roman times. Old books, an old bedside table, tools, a box full of messes or a nice candlestick ... really everything can be found on the atmospheric flea markets in the area. These take place throughout the region on a weekly basis. Good for a pleasant afternoon strolling around things or enjoying the delicacies offered by the locals.
