Super sweet stone house under the oak trees. Ideal for those who love nature, tranquility and privacy. Charming by its simplicity and beautiful atmosphere. Romantic! The house is completely secluded in the forest. Meters thick walls, so cool in the summer, warm in the winter. The weather is still lovely with us until November.
Good drawing fireplace and central heating, good beds, new luxury kitchen and new bathroom. The house is completely free in the forest. If you get up early you have a chance to meet the deer.
Arrangement
Spacious séjour with a sitting area by the fireplace. Cozy dining area. In the saloon also a lovely sofa bed (high quality) that can be folded in one movement.
Spacious bedroom with good beds (auping).
At the end of 2023, my house got a new kitchen with induction cooking. The new natural stone bathroom has a walk-in shower.
Outside you sit under the trees, nice in the shade with a beautiful view over the grounds. 2 hectares of forest where you can move freely.
Good barbecue and a nice seating area outside.
Environment
The house is located in the middle of the valley of the river Lot and in the nature reserve Le Quercy, on a hill. Beautiful hiking area. Everything in the Dordogne is close by, but you avoid the tourist crowds here.
Just a 10-hour drive from Utrecht or fly to Toulouse and you'll find an oasis of peace in this poetic landscape of farmlands, fringed meadows and forest.
Swimming pool and lakes five kilometres away or go for a swim in the river Lot - a magical experience!
The area is also great for cycling and there is a lot to experience: the museum of the sculptor Zadkine, prehistoric caves, canoeing, tennis, golf, climbing in the phenomenal climbing forest near Pradines or just follow the wine routes (the Malbec of Cahors grows here).
Cahors is a fifteen minute drive away. Toulouse is a bit further, but this super beautiful, historic and most innovative city in France is more than worth the drive!
Small-scale agriculture and forest determine the landscape. Nearby are local markets, festivities and festivals. The film festival in Gindou is great! Cahors has many music events. In Cazals there is a weekly market on Sunday morning. You go to the market in Catus on Tuesday morning for the specialties.
Cities such as Cahors and Figeac are nice to visit, as are the caves in Cougnac and Peche Merle. And then there is Rocamadour, the city on a rock and place of pilgrimage, the crack in the earth near Padirac, the village of Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, Souillac.
The cottage is a good base to explore the Dordogne. The cottage is just on the outskirts, but it is less touristy in the summer. Don't forget the Ossip Zadkine museum in neighbouring Les Arques (five kilometres). More beautiful than the museum in Paris and you can also follow the sculptor's daily walking routes.
