Our sturdy 'maison en pierre' was built in 1848 and has been carefully and tastefully renovated. It has a spacious, bright kitchen with a separate dining area and a cozy living room. The house, and especially the kitchen, are fully equipped. From the kitchen you have a view of the terrace, the garden and the valley. From the living room, which is on a higher higher level than the kitchen, you have access to the covered veranda with both a lounge corner and a dining area. A lovely place to enjoy the view of the garden and the valley.
On the first floor are three bedrooms and a bathroom with toilet. The shower is equipped with a massage unit. Downstairs, between living room and kitchen, there is an indoor room, which can possibly serve as a bedroom. Here is a double bed.
The very spacious and well-kept garden offers a lot of privacy. Next to the house is the swimming pool, with on one side a covered terrace and on the other side space for sunbathing. A nice extra for young children is the small toddler pool, next to the larger swimming pool.
Next to the house is a meadow where children can play.
The house is located on the road between Frayssinet-le Gélat and Goujounac. In the first village you will find the traditional bakery. In the direction of Goujounac there is a campsite where lovely pizzas can be bought. The restaurant in Goujounac - on walking distance - offers a bread service during the summer months.
A little further away (15 minutes by car), Prayssac offers various kinds of shops, restaurants, large supermarkets and other facilities. In less than half an hour is Fumel, with an even larger range of shops, including several supermarkets.
We love the outdoors and France! We, Margot and Geert, live in a Frisian village, in the countryside, but a short distance away from the cities Leeuwarden and Groningen. And we really enjoy that combination of nature and culture. That is how we found our dream house in France; in the calm countryside of the Bouriane, where the people protect their heritage and pass it on to future generations. And here too, we enjoy all kinds of cultural and touristic facilities nearby.
The Bouriane, with the beautiful Gourdon as its capital, lies between the rivers Dordogne and Lot. The region is characterized by a rolling landscape with stream valleys and characteristic villages. The house is located in the quiet, undiscovered part of this region, just below the Dordogne department and the attractive tourist places such as Sarlat, Domme and Rocamadour. Nearby are two recreational lakes: the one less than three kilometers away in Frayssinet-Le-Gélat and the other at the cozy Cazals. A little further away is the larger Lac Vert at Catus. If you want to swim in the River Lot, you can do that at fifteen minutes by car from Castelfranc. Walking, cycling, horseback riding, canoeing, the immediate area offers it all. In the house you will find all information about this. The Causses, on the other side of the A20, offer a completely different landscape. High plateaus, cut through the imposing gorges of the Lot, with a completely different vegetation and a somewhat desolate atmosphere. The picturesque Saint Cirque Lapopie is well worth a visit. In Cahors you can walk through the cozy streets and shop to your heart's content. Of course you can also visit the many restaurants here. But also in the immediate vicinity of the house you can eat delicious. Within walking distance is the Auberge des Poules au Pot, specialized in regional cuisine and in the heart of the village you can visit Hostellerie Goujounac. Everywhere in the area you can taste the regional wines and cheeses. In short, the house is located in a region where there is much to discover and experience.
