Les Combes is a double linked holiday home consisting of an old and new part. The old part is a 300 year old farmhouse built from "en Pierre" (large stones from the local valley) and the walls are 60 cm thick. This house has been completely renovated, with respect for the old building styles.
Downstairs is a large cozy living room with wood stove and TV with Dutch channels. In the same room there is an open kitchen with all modern conveniences (4 burner stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher) and utility room (washing machine and toilet). Upstairs are 3 bedrooms (1x single bed, 1x double bed, 3x single bed) and a bathroom with toilet, shower and double sinks.
The new part was built with love and passion in 2000 as our home for living in France. A beautiful combination of old beamed ceiling and modern kitchen, a cozy home !! From the entrance with awning at the front of the house, you enter the central hall with toilet, open staircase and a passage to the living area with open American kitchen. The living room has a large dining table, sitting area, fireplace and a TV with Dutch channels. In addition, there is a utility room with dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator with freezer and washing machine. On the upper floor is a very spacious bedroom with double bed with contiguous 2nd bedroom (1x single bed) and luxury bathroom with bath, shower and toilet. There are 2 single beds on the landing.
Both homes have their own terrace and seating area. The houses have a beautiful communal swimming pool of 8x4m with a roman staircase. Around the pool there is a terrace with sun loungers and parasols.
My name is Nico van der Hulst I own domain Les Combes since 1998. Since then it has changed a lot. I renovated and enlarged the old house completely, after which I built a new house built against it and added a nice pool.
If, for whatever reason, the tenant is unable, unwilling or will not accept the rented property on the agreed date, he must immediately inform the landlord. A telephone notification of this must always be confirmed in writing or by email to the lessor. If the tenant cancels the agreement in the period up to 6 weeks before the start date of the rental period, the tenant will still owe 35% of the rental price; in case of cancellation within 42 days up to the start date of the rental period, the tenant owes the entire rental amount, i.e. 100% of the rental price.
Frayssinet is a small village with about 300 inhabitants, situated in undisturbed nature on the edge of the Regional Natural Park Des Causses Du Quercy, between the Lot and the Dordogne. You go back a few years in time when you come to this area on vacation.
Also note that not everything is arranged on time and by appointment, they live in the well-known French quiet way. For example, the shops are often closed between 12.00 and 14.00.
Both the famous abbey and the distillery of the famous brandy "La Vieille Prune" are worth a visit. Every Friday morning there is a pleasant market here, where many regional products are offered. In mid-July the annual jazz festival breaks loose, with bands playing everywhere on the street.
This very picturesque medieval town with beautiful facades is the most visited city in the Dordogne. The old town is a pedestrian zone with many shops and restaurants. Highly recommended is a visit on a summer evening. Various street artists show their skills in the atmospheric courtyards illuminated by gas lanterns.
Cahors is a cozy market town that is mainly known for its wines. It is the capital of the Lot department. The city lies on the river Lot and was previously easy to defend what was needed in the Hundred Years War, because the English wanted to take the city. There were various sieges for this. Various traces of these sieges can be found in the form of parapets, fortress towers and defense towers. There is also a very interesting old bridge, the Valantre bridge, from the 14th century, one of the few preserved bridges. Next to the bridge there are three towers from which projectiles could be fired.
You enter the caves by train, and take you to another world underground. You will be surprised by the beauty. The underground chambers are more than 60 meters high, and because of the calcium deposits on the stones you will find fantastic animals (dragon, elephant, giant spider) during your walk. There is also a room decorated with Black Light, as a sunken city. Lacave is a cave that must be discovered by the whole family.
In the surroundings of Cahors you will find many vineyards. This area is known for its 'vin noir'; heavy scarlet wines. The area of ??the Cahors is the oldest wine region in France. For centuries it was the most famous and most sought-after wine from France. The entire region from Cahors to Fumel, along the banks of the River Lot, contains many winemakers, who all produce a reasonable to excellent Cahors. Even Prince Henry of Denmark has its own wine chateau where you can buy Cahors. Especially the very pleasant climate of the region; wet spring, warm summer and dry autumn, and the stony ground give the quality to the vines. In the past, this river Lot made it possible for the winegrowers themselves, despite opposition from the Bordeaux farmers, to ship the wine in Bordeaux to England, where the Cahors is better known as "Black Wine". Today, the wine region covers about 4450 ha, accounting for 212,800 HL of wine in 2002. Young drunk Cahors is aromatic and fruity, delicious with cheese, foie gras or grilled meat. Cahors of 5 years and older is a delicious wine to drink with a crackling fire. The ideal drinking temperature is 16 degrees.
