The cottage is a detached, fully renovated 200-year-old farmhouse. The whole cottage has been tastefully renovated and decorated in traditional style: exposed beams, apparent stone, hand carved furniture and other delightful features.
There is a large open-plan living/dining room and kitchen. There's a wood-burner in the room. It's fully equipped a bathroom with a bath and shower, toilet, and sink. On the first floor is a large bedroom with a super king size bed, two single beds, and a cot. Wi-Fi, TV, shelves with books and games are available.
Dogs are welcome for a small additional fee, but only if they are well-behaved, socialized, and fully vaccinated (passports must be presented upon arrival).
Dogs are restricted to the ground floor and are not allowed in the bedroom, the bathroom, sofa, and pantry are also off-limits.
The owner has two very friendly, neutered Border Collies.
Smoking is not permitted in the house.
Weekly rentals run from Saturday to Saturday. The house is available for booking year-round. Outside, you can enjoy a large covered terrace with a barbecue and garden furniture. There is also a large, fully enclosed garden with ancient oak and chestnut trees.
Beyond the garden is a vegetable garden (help yourself) and a water meadows with the owner's hobby farm, featuring pygmy goats, ducks, chickens (fresh eggs, ask the owner), and free-range rabbits. All this overlooks the surrounding fields, hills, and forest.
For anglers, there are two private carp ponds (a two-minute walk away). Fishing is permitted without a permit, but caught fish must be returned.
The accommodations at Les Chambaudies Sud, loosely translated as "the beautiful southern lands," are located in the large Fayat forest, an ancient deciduous forest with a rolling landscape. It is situated on a very quiet country road, just a few houses away. There is no through traffic, as the road runs in a circle.
Nestled in a fold on the south side of the old hill fort of the Puy de Bar, now with its chapel and viewpoint. This is a beautiful, unspoiled corner of France.
The great charm of this area lies in its stunning natural beauty: the forests, lakes, streams, and tranquility. Literally hundreds of lakes are hidden among the wooded hills. Streams and small rivers crisscross the forest. Endless kilometers of forest trails await you, where you might spot wild boar or deer.
The area is a birdwatcher's paradise, with majestic birds of prey soaring above the trees. The woods and fields are teeming with a fantastic variety of birds. Birdwatchers will be amazed by the array of birds they can see from the terrace.
In the village of Château Chervix (3 km away) you'll find a village shop, post office, bank, and bar.
Magnac Bourg is 12 kilometers away and has a supermarket, bakery, doctor, pharmacy, bars, and several restaurants. There are several interesting places to visit for a day trip, information about which can be found in the cottage. For example: a zoo, castles, prehistoric sites and caves, gardens, beautiful natural sights, medieval villages, river valleys (Dordogne, Vezere), and much more!
There are also sports activities nearby, including horseback riding, swimming, tennis, canoeing, cycling, climbing, and ziplining.
The English owner's accommodation is across the road, meaning he is available for help and advice if needed, but he also knows how to be discreet! Expect English hospitality with French conviviality.

Directions from LIMOGES: Take the A20 south towards Toulouse/Brive (toll-free). Exit at junction 40 and follow signs for Pierre Buffiere, Vicq-sur-Breuilh, and Château-Chervix. Follow signs for Vicq-sur-Breuilh and then for Château-Chervix. At Château-Chervix, take the D70 towards Coussac-Bonneval and then the first right towards Les Chambaudies. Follow this road for approximately 2 km, pass the first left towards Puy-de-Bar, and take the second left towards Puy-de-Bar. The cottage is the second house on the right with the large bell outside!
