L'arbre des roses is a holiday home suitable for up to 6 people. There are 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and a spacious living room with open kitchen. On the ground floor you will find the kitchen and living room. From the living room you have access through 2 doors to the large balcony (30 m2). There is also a bedroom and a bathroom. From sunrise to sunset the sun shines on the balcony! On the first floor there are 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. The basement contains a bedroom, a sitting area and a bathroom. This has created a separate studio with the necessary privacy. Ideal for, for example, traveling parents or children. The house is comfortably furnished with an open kitchen with all appliances including an oven / microwave and a dishwasher. The wood stove and electric heaters keep the house comfortably warm, even in winter. The TV in the living room receives, among other things, all Dutch channels. In the bathroom in the basement is the washing machine. Wifi is available for free. On the covered terrace in front of the basement it is nice to stay in warm weather. The terrain of about 2000 m² rises steeply. The house is at the top. On the terrain there are various trees and rocks. The back of the house - where the entrance is located - lies at the end of a dead-end asphalted private road. Behind the house is sufficient parking for 2 to 3 cars.

Ada and Piet Gorter were looking for years across France in 2007 both fell in love with this place and built l'Arbre des Roses. Completely according to our own design, so that it has become exactly what we wanted; a beautiful, spacious, comfortable holiday home in the most beautiful part of France. Never regretted it and we go there as often as possible. Enjoy nature, peace and space. If we are not there we rent it, so that others can also experience home and place

Discounts possible for stays longer than 2 weeks
In the low and mid season it is possible to choose a different changeover day in combination with the other day. Ada and Pete. Extension by a few days is also negotiable in consultation during this period.

In principle, we do not rent between November 1 and April 1. Only if you want to rent for a longer period of time - at least three weeks - can we discuss that. In that case, please contact us for a tailor-made arrangement.

Location & area recommendations

The area is characterized by the high mountains of the Hautes Alpes where peace, space and nature are abundant.
To the south you enter the northern part of Provence where the mountains get lower and the area is characterized by vineyards and fruit trees. The villages (e.g. Sisteron) on the rivers are well worth a visit.
To the west you will enter the Drôme with its lavender fields (les baronnies) and picturesque villages. For a good glass of wine on a terrace, go to Gap (with a nice historic center) or to Serres where you can taste the Provencal atmosphere. In the vicinity of the house there are several restaurants from simple in la Roche des Arnouds at the foot of the mountain, to the good French cuisine (e.g. Les Olivades) in Gap.
Summer:
In summer, various mountain hikes on the Ceüse are possible from the house. The Dévoluy and the Ercins National Park are easily accessible by car and offer an almost endless range of walks and other mountain sports (mountain biking, climbing, rafting, canyoning, etc.).
The Lac de Serre-Ponçon reservoir near Gap can be reached in about 35 minutes by car. This lake can be used for sailing and surfing. In addition, in Pelleautier, about 10 minutes from the house, there is a smaller lake with a beach for the necessary cooling.
Winter:
In winter, there are extensive winter sports opportunities in the vicinity of the house. In addition, beautiful walks can also be made in winter, with or without snowshoes.
About a 30-minute drive away is the ski resort of Le Dévoluy with the villages of la Joue du Loup and SuperDevoluy. This is a snow-sure ski area with about 100km of slopes, suitable for beginner to advanced skiers. In addition, various other winter sports can be practiced in the Dévoluy

Gap is the lively capital of the Hautes Alpes department. You will find plenty of shops, but in the nice center also cozy terraces and a variety of restaurants.
Almost every year there is a finish and/or stage start of the Tour de France and that is also quite an experience for non-cyclists.

The national park les Ecrins offers almost unlimited opportunities for hiking, mountain biking and all imaginable mountain sports

The Lac de Serre Ponçon is about a 40-minute drive away. Cooling off on one of the beaches or sailing, windsurfing, water skiing, etc. it's all possible here.
