The house was created from an old tobacco barn (séchoir a tabac) from around 1900. The area was once known for its tobacco trade, in this shed the leaves were hung to dry. We bought it as a barn, inside you stood in the sand and looked you straight against the tiles.
In 2015 and 2016, the barn has been converted into luxury holiday. To obtain the necessary permits, it was appreciated a similar appearance to houden.Daar where now are the high windows were formerly the shutters were open put for drying.
The large barn doors have been preserved for the authentic character. With the exception of the shutters and glass doors at the back, the whole barn there. To the structure is moreover
still visible. Even the original timber is still between the insulated interior and new exterior siding.
Within a concrete floor was poured and a floor made of chestnut wood. To maintain the appearance of abrasion have been made two big voids. In addition to the characteristic elements is also given to the practicalities. On the ground floor is the hall with stairs,
toilet and laundry / utility room. The living room is divided into a dining area (nice open kitchen with loft) at the back, a nice lounge and TV area at the front.
The floor is divided into 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and 2 toilets. All sleep up to 6 people.
Trémolat is situated between Périgord Pourpre and Périgord Noir (purple the color of the wine and black of dark woods). Situated directly on the beautiful valley of the Dordogne. An idyllic location of
which to explore the region.
The characteristic village is small and cozy but still known for its culinary conviviality. A tasty pizza on the square into a culinary level of the starred restaurant Le Vieux Logis.
Trémolat is right on the Dordogne River, (from the house about 200 meters as the crow flies yet). Several seclusion give it the opportunity to sunbathe and swim. Just outside the center is the Bassin Nautique located where even the possibility to water ski. For a "real" beach feeling you can go to the nearby Limeuil.
In the neighborhood to visit its beautiful towns of La Roque-Gageac, Le Bugue, Perigueux, Bergerac and Sarlat. An experience is also the caves, Lascaux gouffre, gouffre the Proumeyssac and gouffre enter the Rouffignac. cook, make use of the possibility in winter to buy fresh truffles on the market in Saint-Alvère, where the Perigord is famous for.
The house itself is secluded yet only 300 meters away from the center. In the morning you walk for your fresh baguette from the bakery and in the afternoon you are welcome on the terrace drinking a glass of wine.
