Villa Rêve des Roses

Villa Rêve des Roses

Location:
This authentic villa is located near the village of Saint Cybranet just 2 km from the famous castle Castelnaud and 20 km from the historic town of Sarlat. The holiday home is suitable for 10 adults and has a private heated swimming pool, a beautiful south-facing terrace with a spacious roof.

You reach the villa via a steep mountain road which only 3 other villas are situated. Because the villa has the highest location, there is maximum privacy and great views. The house was built in the seventies in Périgord style and recently modernized with new kitchen, bathrooms and terrace.

The layout of the villa consists of a small hall, spacious living room with a sitting area with corner bench around a fireplace with wood stove, small kitchen with washing machine and fridge. In the middle of the house is a cozy dining room with large table with 10 chairs and fireplace. A spacious kitchen with all appliances (including dishwasher, microwave / oven, fridge with freezer, induction hob). A spacious bathroom with toilet, walk-in shower and sink and a second bathroom with shower and sink. There is a second toilet between the kitchen and the dining room. The dining room and kitchen has an authentic tiled floor, parquet in the living room.

Location & area recommendations

Additional information

The village of Beynac-et-Cazenac is really photogenic with its perched castle dominating the Dordogne and its beautiful houses full of flowers. A walk in this village is a real enchantment! In the summer the village receives the Musical Nights of Beynac, a festival that brings chamber music.
Beautiful medieval town that has been preserved because Sarlat fell into poverty in the 19th century and thereby escaped all industrialization in those days. Blessing in disguise! Those who really want to enjoy it should go out early in the summer, especially on market days (Wednesday and Saturday). Or else go at night, because the streets are also fairytale-like in the light of the streetlights.
Domme is a small, old town with a walled fortress, on top of a mountain along the river Dordogne. From Cénac you drive up and you are within ten minutes in this medieval town. To reach the city you have to go through a fortified gate. There is a beautiful 180 degree viewpoint over the river and the surrounding landscape. Domme has managed to preserve the historic character and offers many shops and restaurants, a square with a church and a cave that is worth visiting. A walk around Domme is definitely recommended in the early evening hours. Domme is the most popular place in Périgord Noir after Sarlat.
Located at the foot of a cliff, along the banks of the Dordogne river, the village of La Roque-Gageac lets its visitors get to know its alleys, its fort carved into the rocks, its tropical vegetation and its church that dominates the valley.
When you enter the town of Castelnaud-la-Chapelle, you will see the beautiful medieval castle, built on a rock, already lying down. To visit the castle you drive up to the parking lot, after which you continue the climb to the castle on foot. The castle dating back to the thirteenth century is currently a museum, in which many aspects of medieval warfare are shown. You will see real catapults, swords and armor and for children there are indoor and outdoor activities organized. The panoramic view from the outdoor area is worth a photo, overlooking the valley of the Dordogne. A tour outside with Dutch guide is recommended, inside the castle you can look around yourself. Count on a visit of about three to four hours.
Sarlat-la-Canéda is half an hour away. Sarlat is the capital of the Périgord Noir region and is also known as the vibrant heart of the Dordogne. The car-free center gives the feeling of a medieval city, where you can visit historic buildings and visit many nice shops. On Saturdays, the traditional market is held in the summer months by the city. The Place de la Liberté is a beautiful square, with many restaurants where street performers perform in summer. In Église Sainte-Marie a covered market has been created, where local producers offer their goods. Try to park the car outside the center, there are plenty of parking options around the city.
The romantic gardens of Marqueyssac around the castle make you believe that you ended up in a fairytale world. The gardens are a fifteen minute drive and are the most famous of the Dordogne. The park is laid out as a walking area of ??six kilometers with small paths between 150,000 boxwood shrubs. In July and August there is a candlelight evening every Thursday evening (Les Soirées Chandelles) until midnight, where the gardens are beautifully lit with 2000 candles. Pigeons and peacocks are free, there is a tea room and playgrounds for children.
There are more than 150 prehistoric sites in the area. The most famous prehistoric site is of course Lascaux II and III, which, although a reproduction, still gives you goosebumps. Other caves in the Dordogne and Lot are those of Font-de-Gaume and Combarelles in Les Eyzies, Rouffignac and Bara-Bahau (engravings), the caves of Lacave and Padirac and numerous smaller sites and / or prehistoric caves. The village of Troglodytique de la Madeleine and the site of Roque St-Christophe are sites where you can see how people lived in Prehistory.
Bergerac is situated for the most part on the north side of the Dordogne river, in a region dominated by winegrowing. East of Bergerac is the Pécharmant, a wine region that produces solid red wine, while south of the Dordogne the Monbazillac produces sweet white wines. In addition, tobacco is traded on an important scale in Bergerac. To the west, the Bergerac wine region borders that of Saint-Émilion.
Monpazier is located in the beautiful region between the Dordogne and the Lot and is the most beautiful bastide villages in the Périgord. A glance at the map of the village is not at all reminiscent of a medieval village. Where you expect organically built settlement with narrow streets and winding alleys, in Monpazier clean lines and uniformity are more reminiscent of a Roman army camp. It is also strange that the village was not founded by the French at all, but by an English king.
Issigeac is a pretty walled medieval town, the core of which dates back to the 13th century. In the immediate vicinity of Issegeac, however, many older remains can be found: Issigeac has the largest number of megalithic monuments (buildings with large stones, such as dolmens, stonehenge) in the Dordogne. Also visit the Sunday market, as can be seen in the photo on the left.
