GITE PER

We realized Gîte Pèr in the winter of '22/'23. With its 31 m2, it is cozy and atmospheric.

Via our "Achterom" forest path you can reach Gite Pèr from the parking lot. The kitchen has a fridge-freezer, 2 burner induction hob, a microwave, a small toaster apperage, n'espresso machine and a kettle. Of course, the kitchen inventory is amply available. We put down coffee and tea for the first few days.

Through a small hall you reach the bedroom. Equipped with a double bed (2 x 80 x 200) which is made for you on arrival! There is a wardrobe

The spacious bathroom with shower cubicle 80x80, sink and toilet, toilet paper is available. There is 1 small, 1 large towel and 1 washcloth per person.

Each room in this gîte is equipped with an electric heater. This makes it nice to stay outside the summer season.

Our gîte is non-smoking! There is free WIFI available.

Our gîte can be reached from the parking lot via a slightly sloping path of 30 meters. This may be less accessible for the disabled. In the gite itself, everything is on one level.

SURROUNDINGS

Paunat is centrally located between Bergerac, Périgueux and Sarlat, surrounded by many picturesque authentic villages.

Bergerac is known for its vineyards and wine chateaus, many of which organise tours and tastings. Bergerac itself has an old medieval center with cozy streets full of beautiful half-timbered houses. You can also fly to Bergerac airport and get a rental car if you want to come by plane.

Périgueux, the capital of the Dordogne, is best known for its Cathédral Saint-Front. Sarlat-La-Canéda is called the most beautiful town in the Dordogne. The weekly market on Saturday is very popular and is well attended, the entire city center is filled with stalls.

Limeuil is barely a 10-minute drive away, a village with several restaurants, studios, a historic garden and a cozy terrace on the water where the rivers Vézère and Dordogne meet. From the terrace you have a view over 2 arched bridges and you can walk straight into the river where you and your dog(s) can swim. There is also a boarding point for the rental of canoes. A little further on is the Plage Bac de Sors, a lovely stone beach with a beautiful view of the eroded rock walls above the Dordogne. In summer there is a friendly atmosphere. Dogs are welcome (on a leash in summer)

Le Bugue is about a 15-minute drive away. A larger town on the Vézère where you will find all the necessary facilities such as several supermarkets, restaurants, museums, banks etc. There is also a large market here every Tuesday morning with various household and regional products, with a cozy fair-like atmosphere. For daily fresh bread, the nearest bakery is less than a 10-minute drive away in St. Alvère, where there is also a small local supermarket.

Enjoy the many cozy markets, vide-greniers, marché gourmands, enchanting castles, historic caves and much more!

We, Femke and Perry, have decided to change course.
In the municipality of Paunat in the Dordogne, we finally found our domain to make our dream come true. Namely to offer a wonderful holiday where dogs are more than welcome! The gîtes including spacious swimming pool and a large fenced area, are located in an oasis of peace with the beautiful nature, experience and all the good things that the "Dordogne" region has to offer just a stone's throw away.

      Additional information

The Dordogne is a very green department with a rich flora and fauna. The soil is very fertile, it is sometimes said that “you only have to stick a stick in the ground and a tree will grow out of it”. There is a wide variety of greenery to discover.

From the gites you can walk straight into the forest with its many hiking trails, but don't be alarmed if you come face to face with a deer. In addition to the many deer, there are also wild boars, badgers, birds of prey, foxes, etc. in the forests around us. There is even a chance of spotting a herd of mouflons. In short, a lot of nature, interspersed with farmlands, small streams, beautiful views over the hills and valleys. In addition to enjoying the peace and quiet or the swimming pool, there is also plenty to do in the area. From water fun to cave walking. There are several canoe starting points for beautiful trips on the Vézere and the Dordogne.

For those who prefer to keep their heads above water, there are walking and cycling routes (MTB), golf courses, horse riding and of course a visit to one of the many castles is worthwhile. It is not without reason that the Dordogne is known for its "1001 castles valley". From Le Bugue to Sarlat there are numerous caves to visit, such as the Lascaux Caves.

For those who want to go higher, you can also book hot air balloon flights, where you can see all the beauty from above.

The many medieval villages around us all have their own weekly markets on different days, there is a market somewhere every day.

There are also flea and flea markets (vide-greniers) in the area all year round.

If you like good food and fun, visiting a Marché Gourmand in one of the villages in July and August is definitely worthwhile. Bring your own plate and cutlery and join us. There are several food stalls, food trucks and often music. In short, lots of fun on the village square!

There is also plenty to do here during the winter months. Halloween is extensively celebrated here in various chateaus. There are cozy Christmas markets or how about a chateau in an enchanting Christmas atmosphere! The Perigord-Noir is also known for its truffle markets. With us in St. Alvère you will find such an annual truffle market.
