Just 2 km from the pretty town of Martel, we came across Mirandole, a striking holiday home built in the local style. From its elevated position, Mirandole enjoys beautiful views
towards Martel and beyond. In fact, the first owners loved the view so much that they designed the house to take full advantage of its great location.
Inside
The bedrooms and bathrooms are on the ground floor, while the open plan living/dining room takes up the entire first floor. Here you will find patio doors that emphasize the view, and a seat by the window has also been incorporated in the kitchen. At one end of this spacious kitchen, sliding doors lead to the comfortable living room and to the inviting outdoor terrace, where 5 small steps lead down to the adjoining pool and lower terrace, all positioned to make the most of the evening sun and sun during the day. Modern bathrooms, a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable sofas and underfloor heating ensure that the comforts of home are not forgotten…Entrance hall. Terrace by the pool. Built-in barbecue. Private car park. Large grounds (0.5 hectares), forest and garden. Private swimming pool (10m x 5m) with Roman corner steps. Your time will undoubtedly be spent on it
swimming pool and on the terrace, although the rest of the grounds also deserve an exploration. The garden is half a hectare and is largely left 'au naturel'. To one side of the house is a rural footpath that takes you past fields and meadows to the village of Baladou. It is one of the many walks that can be done in this area, as well as other sporting activities such as
canoeing on the river Dordogne (5 km) and horse riding.
Environment
Located in the Dordogne valley of the Lot, Martel is a fine example of a Gallic city full of life and exuberance. Historic stone buildings house restaurants, cafes and shops, with narrow streets leading to the main square where a beautiful covered marketplace takes center stage. Surrounded by rolling countryside through which the River Dordogne flows, Martel will undoubtedly appeal to many. Many famous sites are within easy driving distance, including the spectacular village of Rocamadour (21km), the fascinating caves of Padirac (28km) and the renowned Dordogne town of Sarlat-la-Canéda (an hour's drive). Closer to home will be a ride on the steam train that passes by
the cliffs between Martel and St. Denis drive, delight children and we are sure that everyone will enjoy the summer evenings in Martel.
