'Chez Nous' is a renovated farmhouse from the19th century where the former tobacco cure has been added to the house. The house is eighteen meters long and ten meters wide. The detached house, located slightly lower than the local road, is built in the characteristic style of the Dordogne region: ochre-colored natural stones and walls of eighty centimeters thick. Insulating.
From the living room and the large, partly covered terrace you have a fantastic and wide view over the valley and the hamlet of Les Spérits on the other side. You can hear the Koekkoek calling here or the rare Golden Oriole. On the terrace you can dine in the sun that sets in the evening on the other side behind the hills. There is a long table with two benches to eat at and there are two barbecues including a Weber.
LaFuma garden furniture: four relax chairs and two garden chairs. A hammock from Fatboy. And you can choose from two places to eat outside, on the terrace on the side of the valley or more in the shade on the side of the house.
The private, well-sheltered swimming pool of 5 x 10 meters, also has views over the valley. Comfortable sunbeds are waiting for you at the pool. With a cooling night dip you can enjoy the pool to the fullest even after sunset. Access to the pool can be closed.
If you have had enough of the sun, you can find more than enough shade around the house. Under the more than one hundred year old lime trees is the second long table with benches to eat together. Or read. Or do nothing. After sunset, you will be amazed by the silence in the area and you will notice how dark it can be in the Dordogne. The starry sky is really impressive.
The large living room has a five-metre-wide window overlooking the terrace and the valley. The chamber is about fifteen meters long. Via a small staircase you walk from the living room to the large terrace on the valley side or the small covered seating area on the side of the house. The long dining table offers ample space for eight modern chairs with good seating comfort and armrests. For smaller children, there are two high IKEA high chairs. In the sitting area you can laze in the Italian design sofa or read a book or watch (satellite) television with your legs stretched out in the relax chair.
As already mentioned, we have free Wifi. There is an original Godin wood burning stove.
The kitchen has recently been renovated. Modern and handy kitchen furniture in the cheerful color yellow combines well with the rustic atmosphere in the kitchen that we wanted to preserve. The kitchen has an extra dining table for four people, a large Perigordine fireplace containing a modern wood stove from HWAM and adjacent to the utility room (with sink and sink) which contains a second refrigerator with freezer, Miele washing machine, dryer, large convection oven, Philips airfryer and microwave.
And next to this is a utility room with coat rack and antique cupboard with household items. For your coffee you can use a Nespresso but also opt for a classic filter coffee machine or possibly a Senseo. Extensive inventory is present in the kitchen as well as herbs.
In the living room you will find a well-stocked bookcase with games and many Dutch and English books.
At the back of the house is the shower room with sink and the bathroom with sink, bath, LED mirror and separately accessible toilet. In the hall there is a separate toilet at senior height. Next to this is the bedroom with box spring of 160 x 200 with a view of the valley where the deer regularly walk early in the morning.
'Chez Nous' has beds suitable for tall people: two double beds are no less than 2.10 meters long. On the first floor are three bedrooms, each with its own access. A bedroom with an Auping double bed of 160 x 210, a large bedroom with an extra long box spring with mattress topper (180 x 210) and then a bedroom with three single box spring beds (90 x 200) and an IKEA cot, duvet and tarpaulin available. All sleep combinations are possible, make your own choice to suit the composition of your group.
