Attractive bungalow with swimming pool near Le Bugue
Les Lauriers is a cozy detached holiday home for 6 people in the Dordogne. It is wonderfully quiet on a higher road with only local traffic, and yet within 4 minutes you are in Le Bugue, a charming village on the Vézère with a real French market on Tuesdays. And you are here in the middle of the nice markets of the region, so every day of the week you can go somewhere. In the summer there are also atmospheric night markets, where you can taste your own meal between the stalls and linger for a long time.
The house
The whole house is on one level. The living room is spacious, with a seating area around the fireplace and a separate dining area. Through the patio doors you can walk straight onto the large terrace.
The kitchen is spacious and well equipped, with dishwasher, oven, microwave, coffee maker and freezer, and there is a second dining table where you can drink your morning coffee. Fun for those who love to cook: get fresh stuff at the market and make something beautiful out of it at home. There is also wifi, a washing machine and dryer. Bed linen can be rented.
Sleeping
The master bedroom has a double bed, an en-suite bathroom and double doors leading out to the terrace. The two other bedrooms each have two single beds (one of which can be pushed together) and share the second, spacious bathroom. In addition, there is a separate toilet. A camping bed is available for the little ones.
Terrace, garden and swimming pool
On the terrace you will probably spend most of the day. Under the wooden roof and the electrically retractable awning, you can sit in the shade, with the Weber barbecue at hand and a view over the pool and the Vézère valley. A few steps down is the completely renovated private swimming pool (8 by 4 meters), with a spacious sun terrace, sun loungers and a large parasol. After swimming, rinse off under the outdoor shower. If you want to sit quietly for a while, walk on to the second terrace at the back of the garden, with a lounge area under a wooden pergola.
The garden is really huge and about 95% fenced (there is a small passage to the neighbors). So there was plenty of room for the children to play, with lots of grass and beautifully maintained borders. At the front you park on site, with space for several cars and a place under the carport.
The area
There is plenty to do for young and old. In Le Bugue you will find several bakeries and supermarkets (Intermarché, an organic supermarket, Lidl and Aldi), plus the Le Bournat adventure park and an aquarium. Les Eyzies-de-Tayac, the "capital" of prehistory with its famous caves and sites, is only 9 km away (about 11 minutes). The medieval Sarlat with its atmospheric market and old town can be reached in about half an hour (about 30 km).
Highly recommended is Limeuil, classified as one of the most beautiful villages in France. Here you can swim and get into a canoe or kayak for a trip on the Dordogne or the Vézère. There are plenty of nice restaurants in the area. Enough to go out for days, or to just stay at home by the pool.
