Our bungalow is located at Parc Port Couzages on the border of the Dordogne and the Corrèze. The park, made up of 27 cottages, is built on a former walnut orchard and is located on the Lac du Causse.
From the cottage you have an unobstructed view of the lake and right next to it is a clearing with a playground and a table tennis table (ping pong set available). The terrace has a pergola for shade, a stone barbecue and a dining table with chairs and garden cushions.
The cottage is fully equipped and can accommodate up to 4-5 people. The living room consists of a sitting area with open kitchen. There is a smart TV where you can stream programs. The kitchen is equipped with a fridge with freezer, induction hob, combi oven, dishwasher, Senseo and a kettle. On the ground floor you will find the bathroom, a bedroom and a second room with a washing machine and a folding bed. On the mezzanine is another bedroom with 2 single beds. The cottage is also equipped with air conditioning and WIFI. Duvets and pillows are provided, sheets, covers and towels must be brought by you.
The park is located directly on the Lac du Causse. Fishing enthusiasts can enjoy fishing for carp and catfish with a fishing license available online. Hikers walk daily on the beautiful 7km route along the lake.
You can swim on this side of the lake, but you must stay on the side during the day. The lake is owned by Ski Nautique where you can go water skiing in July and August or ride on a tire behind the motorboat. Water shoes are recommended due to the presence of stones on the bottom. On the other side of the lake you will find a sandy beach where you can swim freely. There are restaurants, toilets and a first aid post here. Right next to the beach you can rent pedal boats, paddleboards and canoes.
There are many sights to be found in this region. In particular, the medieval villages of Terrasson, Rocamadour, Collonges la Rouge, Turenne, Domme, Martel and Sarlat are wonderful to walk through. The area also has well-known caves such as Lascaux with prehistoric cave paintings. Gouffre de Padirac is really fantastic with its underground hiking trails and a boat trip on the underground river. Josephine Baker's castle and the ruins of Les Tour de Merle are also highly recommended. For those who really want to taste the French culture, the market in Chartrièr-Ferriere is a must. In July and August you can buy your dinner at the various market stalls and then prepare it directly on the barbecues, after which you can sit down at one of the tables on the square. You only need to provide your own plates and cutlery.
Every year we take a horseback ride through the beautiful forests and small picturesque French villages. An outdoor ride can be made at Centre équestre de Langlade in Brive.
