We, Renate and Henny, would like to welcome you to our recently renovated gîte, located on the domain of our 16th century family chartreuse in Rioux-Martin, a place where peace, nature and the French art of living come together harmoniously.
Our spacious and characterful gîte can accommodate up to 10 people and is decorated with great care in a warm, classic style. The open kitchen with dining area, together with the cozy living room, forms the heart of the house – a nice place to cook, eat and enjoy together. With five comfortable bedrooms and four bathrooms, the gîte is ideal for families and larger groups. Three bedrooms have their own bathroom, while the other two rooms share a spacious bathroom.
Outside, a large garden with swimming pool, various seating areas and plenty of space to relax awaits. There is also an attractive wine bar on the domaine, which can be reserved exclusively for a private meeting or festive occasion.
Amidst rolling landscapes, wide views and the familiar company of our animals, we invite you to let go of everyday life for a while. Here, each season is experienced in all its beauty: the soft scents of wildflowers and freshly cut grass, the song of birds in the morning sun, the rich flavors of the region and the warm colors of the French countryside. A place where peace and experience meet and where you get the time to enjoy the simple things that make life special.
Our gîte is located in rural Rioux-Martin, on the border of the Charente and the Dordogne, a region known for its authentic charm, hospitality and unspoiled nature. From here you can effortlessly discover some of the most beautiful pearls of Southwest France. The picturesque Aubeterre-sur-Dronne, officially recognized as one of the most beautiful villages in France, is nearby, as is the cozy Barbezieux-Saint-Hilaire with its markets and typical French atmosphere.
For lovers of wine, culture and gastronomy, the famous vineyards of Saint-Émilion and Pomerol are within easy reach. In addition, the historic cities of Bordeaux, Cognac, Angoulême and Périgueux are about an hour's drive away. Each destination tells its own story, from centuries-old streets and impressive architecture to lively terraces, local markets and culinary discoveries.
There are also plenty of opportunities for lovers of an active holiday. From your gîte you can step straight into the beautiful rolling landscape for wonderful walking and cycling trips. Prefer to go out on the water? Then take a relaxing canoe trip on the river Dronne and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
Golf enthusiasts can visit a beautiful golf course just a 25-minute drive away. About 10 minutes away is the Circuit Haute Saintonge, where various activities are organized and where you can also go karting.
There is also more than enough to do for children. In addition to the private swimming pool, the spacious garden and the play forest, there are numerous play and adventure parks in the area. We recommend Base Poltrot, where young and old can enjoy a wide range of sports and recreational activities.
