Beautiful 2 to 6 person gite Les lits de Montbel, 50km from Carcassonne, at the foot of the Pyrenees. On an idyllic traffic-free village square. Quietly located, yet 3 km from Chalabre, where there are basic amenities. A large supermarket is a 15-minute drive away along a beautiful road with views of the Pyrenees.
The beautiful swimming lake Lac de Montbel is 10 minutes away.
Beautiful walks straight from the gîte, up the hill for a view of the Pyrenees, or along the apple orchards of the village and along the river l'Hers that flows past the village. In warm weather you can enjoy a dip here.
The voie verte, a car-free cycle route over an old railway bed, runs past the village and is highly recommended. Bicycle rental possible.
For motorcycle enthusiasts, this is really a beautiful region for motorcycle tours.
Don't forget to visit Mirepoix and the Cathar castles nearby, we are on the border of L'Aude and Ariège.
In winter, the ski areas Les Monts-d'Olmes and Ax-les-Thermes are not far away.

The spaces are spread over 3 floors with a fully equipped kitchen downstairs. Followed by a bedroom for 2 people and a toilet with sink. On the 1st floor the living room with terrace and 2 bedrooms above. There is an inner courtyard, a terrace at the front and a terrace at the back, plenty of choice for sitting or eating outside, with a choice of sun or shade.
We also have a garage where your bicycles or motorcycles can be safely stored.

We are Miek and Christian, Belgians who, after renting a gîte on the border with Baarle-Nassau for 3 successful years, have lost our hearts to the beautiful village of Sonnac-sur-l'Hers in the south of France. We bought an old mansion here in 2024, followed by a gîte. This was previously operated as a B&B and Gîte Chez la maison bleue. The gîte will be available for rent from Easter 2024. We will move permanently to France in the spring of 2025 and will run 3 B&B rooms from then on.

Explanation of prices

Prices include made beds, bath linen and kitchen linen.

If, for whatever reason, the tenant cannot, does not want to or will not accept the rented property on the agreed date, he must immediately inform the landlord of this. A telephone notification of this must always be confirmed in writing or by email to the landlord.
The landlord charges the following amounts, depending on the date of written cancellation by the tenant:

cancellation more than 3 months before the start of the rental period: free of charge
cancellation between the 90th and the 60th day before the start of the rental period: 25% of the rental price
cancellation between the 59th and the 15th day before the start of the rental period: 50% of the rental price
cancellation less than 15 days before the start of the rental period: 100% of the rental price

If the tenant only announces on the start date or during the rental period that he or she will no longer use the rented property, he will still owe the full rental price.
