Welcome to our lovely family villa in the heart of the Ardeche. A house where we spend our holidays with our family for years. We bought this house at Domaine Les Rives de l'Ardeche 12 years ago when it was still to be built. The Ardeche is a wonderful holiday region for young and old, for the peace seeker and the adventurer; there is something for everyone to see and experience!

Location & tips

Additional information

The well-known Pont d'Arc is a short distance from the holiday villa. This hotspot can be reached by car or bicycle via a beautiful route. But definitely consider visiting the Pont d'Arc with a canoe over the Ardeche! The sailing route is breathtakingly beautiful. The boarding place can be reached on foot from the Domaine Les Rives de l'Ardeche.
The Ardeche has fantastic nature reserves. Make a route along the Gorges de l'Ardeche (maybe not a good recommendation for fear of heights ....). The views are nothing short of spectacular!
Discover the atmospheric village of Labeaume, beautifully situated among the rocks of the Ardeche. The village lies along the river, at the foot of the steep limestone rocks. Here you can take beautiful walks through the beautiful maze of steep cobblestone streets, with covered passageways and beautiful stone facades. Or take the fishing nets with you to catch fish in the low water and look for coolness in the river. Lunch or dinner afterwards under the plane trees on one of the attractive terraces. A wonderful day guaranteed! The "Labeaume en Musiques" music festival is held from mid-July to mid-August, where classical and world music are central.
The historic center of Avignon has been beautifully preserved. It is not for nothing that it is included in its entirety on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The main attractions of Avignon are the bridge of Avignon and the palace. he center is surrounded by a wall of more than four kilometers with seven gates. The old center of Avignon consists of attractive houses, narrow streets and some beautiful squares with terraces and eateries. The famous theater festival takes place every July in the city. It offers official shows in the courtyard of the Palais des Papes and other festivities in the rest of the city. At the beginning of August there is the Avignon Jazz festival, rich in concerts and other animations throughout the city.
The castle of Vogüé, situated on the banks of the Ardèche, about 25 km from Vallon Pont d'Arc, overlooks one of the most beautiful villages in France. It is still the property of one of the large families who have marked the history of Vivarais, that of the Marquis de Vogüé. The visit takes you through the history of this building and the Vogüé family, to the discovery of its interiors such as the dungeon, the chapel or the hall of the States of Vivarais. From the hanging garden called Jardin de la Marquise, an enchanting place, you have a wonderful view of the village and the mountains of the Ardèche.
The markets of Vallon Pont d'arc are a nice outing. Every Thursday morning there is a Provencal market where you can taste the local atmosphere and products. In July and August, the Marché Nocturne (night market) is also held on Tuesday evenings with pleasantly lit streets and stalls. On the numerous terraces you can enjoy a drink and view everything from a distance.
Balazuc is a beautiful town on the Ardèche river. The village is officially recognized as one of the most beautiful villages in France and is therefore part of Les Plus Beaux Villages de France. Because of its location on a mountainside in a beautiful bend of the river, you almost always have a beautiful view here. The village has stood the test of time well, which makes you feel as you walk through Balazuc in the Middle Ages. Various small shops and art studios can be found throughout the village.
The Ardeche is known for various regional products such as olives, chestnuts and nougat. These are often on the menu of the many restaurants in Vallon Pont d'Arc and surroundings. There is nothing short of culinary enthusiasts: from simple to luxury restaurants, specialty shops, the large selection on the markets, ice cream parlors etc.
Montélimar is located between Valence and Avignon, in the middle of the Provencal Drôme, the lavender region, and is famous for nougat (nougat), a delicacy based on almonds and honey. In the city is the museum of chocolates and nougat. Here visitors can be informed about these delicacies. There are also many traces visible from the past, mainly from Roman times. The old town of Montélimar is also worth a visit. There are not only beautiful old buildings, but also countless shops and restaurants. Although most tourists will know Montélimar as the city that you pass on your way to the south, Montélimar is worth a visit.
The Accroche toi aux branches nature park of 5 hectares of 20m high trees is located within walking distance of the park, on the edge of the Ardeche river. It offers more than 150 different obstacles within the 10 courses that grow in difficulty and are therefore a challenge for everyone, including a 1600m zip line!
At the climbing park is also a boarding place for canoe and kayak trips along the Gorges de l'Ardeche. The different tours / distances are suitable for families and vary in distance between 8 and 32 km (1/2 day to 2 days with the possibility of camping along the river).
The cave of Saint Marcel d'Ardeche is really fairy-tale! This cave is in the middle of the Gorges, the route to it is already beautiful.
The Roman aqueduct near the village of Vers-Pont-du-Gard in the south of France is one of the most famous Roman remains. It is the highest aqueduct from Roman times and also one of the best preserved specimens. The Pont Du Gard is both a national French monument and a so-called Grand Site de France and the aqueduct is also on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The Château de Bournet golf course is close to Vallon Pont d'Arc in a beautiful and peaceful setting. It is a 9-hole golf course. At the golf course is the restaurant "La Bergerie" and the grill restaurant "Côté Jardin".
A must for hiking enthusiasts: The Bois de Païolive. This is a limestone plateau with rocks and forests in which many summer oaks and holm oaks occur. The area sometimes looks alien. The rocks and colors are fairy-like. Erosion is the cause of the freak forms of the various rock formations. The area is more than 16 square km and lies south-east of Les Vans, above the Chassezac, a tributary of the Ardèche river. There are different color walking routes of different lengths.
You can visit the Ardèche-Lama's animal park about a 15-minute drive from the Domaine. A surprisingly fun outing, not only for the children! There is a large collection of different breeds of lamas. The latter is especially a fun attraction for children, because many animals roam freely and there are regularly admiring (and hugging!) Young lamas.
Fun for children! Combine a trip to the town of Uzes and / or the Pont du Gard with a visit to the Haribo museum.
If you drive to the Ardèche you will already pass the exit to Montelimar: a beautiful Provencal city with a medieval center and a special art of living. If you think of Montélimar ... then the association with nougat is not far away! Many nougat shops can be found in the medieval center of the city and you can see how it is made at the various artisan companies.
Impressive and spectacular is the Crocodile Farm in Pierrelatte, consisting of a first landscape greenhouse of 8000 m2, an extension of 1500 m2 and an outdoor trail of 4000 m2 in which more than 400 animals live (of which 350 crocodiles). There are also various snakes and giant turtles to admire. At the park is a playground and a snack bar / restaurant.
