Villa Sainte-Marie in Sanssat is a former hospice, built around 1900. It was built at the time by architect Paul Noailly. After 2 years of renovation, our beautiful monumental villa will be ready to be rented out in 2023.
You rent the main house (maison maitre) of the complex. The domaine is exclusively for your group. The main house consists of 2 large double bedrooms (queen size beds) a double bedroom and a single bedroom. There are 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, living room, dining room and study. The chapel is very special. Its restoration has yet to begin. The garden surrounds the house and is completely walled. At the rear is a covered terrace adjacent to the kitchen.
The villa is located in a small village in the Allier. The hilly surroundings, the Allier river and beautiful towns and villages make it a very attractive holiday environment. The city of Vichy and (a little further away) Clermont-Ferrand and Moulins are particularly beautiful to visit. Vichy is an undiscovered pearl and designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its status as a spring resort. The city center has many architectural highlights. The boulevard along the river is not only fun to spend time in, but is also suitable for water sports such as sailing and canoeing.
There are also fun things to do in the area for children. Consider the Le Pal zoo/amusement park, about half an hour's drive away. Or at the water ski slope, about a 10-minute drive away.
From the house you can walk straight into the hills along country roads or paths. The Allier River is a 10-minute drive away. There are many beautiful villages in the area, for example Montaigu-le-blin. The hilly landscape, the villages and the many castles and country houses make it a beautiful area to discover. Ideal for the holidaymaker who loves peace, space, culture and outdoor life.
Even if you enjoy good wines or like to eat out, there is plenty to do. In the area is the most famous wine region 'Saint-Pourçain'. Here you can visit interesting winegrowers who produce wines with grape varieties from the region. Some winemakers are experimenting with innovative methods of production. There are also many farmers who sell their own products such as (goat) cheeses, meat, poultry, honey, vegetables, escargots, etc. In the town of Saint Pourçain there are cooperatives where wines and regional products are sold collectively. To the north, a little further away, are the wine regions of Burgundy and Sancerre.
There are good restaurants in the area, for example in Billy, Montaigu-le-blin and of course in Vichy. There you will find a restaurant with a Michelin star.
In short, an ideal environment for young and old, especially for those looking for a beautiful French landscape, culture and undiscovered villages!
