When you think of Austria, a fairy-tale landscape probably springs to mind, with dense forests, deep lakes and snowy mountains. This enchanting image perfectly sums up Salzburgerland. This beautiful region, bordering Germany and Italy, is popular with nature lovers from all corners of the globe. Most people flock to the Salzburgerland for an active winter sports holiday, and there is plenty going on in well-known winter sports villages like Kaprun, Hinterglemm and Piesendorf. Make your way here and take your pick from the best ski runs and routes for cross-country skiing. And there’s plenty more to see and do in the area. So be quick and book your holiday home in Salzburgerland. Via Micazu, you can get a better deal as you book directly with the owner.

The many highlights of the Salzburgerland

From November until the end of February, this area is usually covered in enough snow for skiing, snowboarding and cross-country skiing. Salzburgerland is a fantastic holiday destination throughout the year. In the spring, everything is in bloom and in summer you can go on endless walks in the mountains. We highly recommend the Hohe Tauern national park, the largest nature reserve in the Alps. The Salzburgerland is also home to the Krimml waterfalls, the highest waterfalls in Central Europe. Another highlight is Burg Hohen, a medieval fortress sited on a rock that is 155 metres tall. And if you’re spending your holiday in Salzburgerland, you absolutely must include a city trip to its enchanting capital of Salzburg.
