Location & area recommendations

Additional information

Aruba has two great golf courses making the island a very popular golf destination. In the far north of the island you will find the 18-hole Tierra Del Sol Resort & Golf course, a PGA-approved course designed by acclaimed architect Robert Trent Jones II with stunning panoramic ocean views surrounded by spectacular desert scenery at every hole. Unsurprisingly, the golf course has been awarded 4.5 stars by Golf Digest.
Barefoot Restaurant
As the name suggests, this is a fantastic idea for dining in Aruba. With the sound of the ocean lapping the beach in the background, the tropical breeze in your hair and your feet in the white sand, all while enjoying great food, fine wines and friendly yet professional service. A true recommendation
Corsairs, a local fish market with restaurant and bar in Savaneta, has the freshest fish and delicious shrimp.

Pirates is a local meeting place that has become a destination in itself in recent years. The locals relax, eat and drink here, play pool, and have the time of their lives while the fishermen prepare their fresh catch.

Corsairs is located by the sea, on a fishing pier in Savaneta, Aruba's former capital. Pirates is a very informal eatery where you get fish and drinks at local prices. The freshly caught fish is served in colorful baskets and you eat with your fingers.

The atmosphere is very relaxed and this place is popular with both locals and tourists. On your way in you will find a counter on the left where you can buy fresh fish to take away, or order to enjoy on the pier. The menu is quite simple and consists of one or two daily fresh catches, along with some local dishes. You sit on an elongated terrace at a simple table and have a magnificent view of the ocean. Prices? Local. A very good deal. You see the fresh fish being cleaned. all in all a true experience
Hike up the Hooiberg van Aruba and experience a unique workout with a beautiful view as a reward.

The haystack is cone-shaped and 165 meters high and stands in the center of the island. The approximately 600 steps will take you to the top of the mountain, and that is definitely worth it!

Enjoy the panoramic view at the top of the mountain and if you are lucky, you will see wild goats, parakeets and colorful lizards during the tour.
The famous Baby Beach in the southernmost part of Aruba, close to San Nicolas, is a true Caribbean beach paradise. This beautiful sandy beach, shaped like a crescent moon, is located in a calm lagoon and is ideal for families with small children.

The shallow water makes this an excellent beach destination for swimmers who like to go deep into the sea without losing contact with the bottom. At Baby Beach you can also snorkel perfectly in a special area, where the bay opens into the ocean. For your safety, you must stay within the marked snorkeling area.

Baby Beach has an eatery where you can order a tasty hamburger or hot dog and easily get in touch with the locals. Big Mama's Grill also offers BBQ and various seafood dishes if you have a bigger appetite.
Visit the oldest surviving building in Oranjestad, erected in 1796 to protect the coast. Once inside Fort Zoutman, you can feel the history seep through the walls and marvel at the historical collection of documents and objects from the past.

After 2 years of work, the fort was completed in 1798 and named after the Dutch Admiral Johan Arnold Zoutman, who never set foot on Aruban soil, but defeated the English on the North Sea.

The Willem III Tower next to the fort, which today serves as the entrance to the fort, was built in 1868 and served as both a lighthouse and a clock tower. In 1963, after 95 years, the light in the tower was extinguished.

A replica kitchen is located in the courtyard to show how cooking used to be in Aruba.
